A Cultural History of KC’s LGBT Social Scene: from Nightlife to Daylight
Who: Phantoms of Kansas City
Phantoms of Kansas City is a social club whose ultimate goal is to encourage hometown pride by facilitating events that celebrate Kansas City.
What: Stuart Hinds, Director of GLAMA (Gay, Lesbian Archive of MidAmerica) will unveil the invisible history of Kansas City's LGBT social scene in a fifteen-minute talk. During the talk, harpist, Celia Albon, will serenade those in attendance. The presentation willbe followed by live music from the Eddie Moore Trio for the final hour. This is part three of an ongoing series of quarterly celebrations put on by the Phantoms of KC social club.
Where: Californos (ballroom), 4147 Pennsylvania Ave, Kansas City, MO 64111
When: Friday, May 30th, 5-8 PM
Why: To offer a glimpse of Kansas City’s past in a nonacademic, social setting in an effort to raise awareness of the invisible histories of KC that helped shape its current climate as well as its future.
