However . . . What's noteworthy right now is that local poets are taking this occasion to celebrate the life and work of Maya Angelou . . .

We've long been a fan of Iris and realize that she's one of the best and brightest in this town . . .
Iris Seyz: "I don't have anything to say that no one else is saying. Except maybe that we should be not focus on her mortality but should have paid more attention to her legacy while she was still living. Its easy to lament the passing of someone great who tried hard to achieve some measure of equality and peace. Its harder to revere, accept, and join those who are doing the same work tomorrow."
To that end, we want to take time to remind readers that Kansas City has a vibrant poetry scene . . . Accordingly:

There's sure to be more reax and we welcome your FREE SPEECH reflections but it's worth noting that the passing of this literary legacy was not unnoticed in Kansas City.
