"Today’s recommendation in no way guarantees that there will be a single terminal. This is like a hockey game and there are three periods. Today ends the first. The second is when the airlines and Aviation meet over the next 12-24 months and come up with their own recommendation, starting with the information we have gathered to date. It’s safe to conclude now that Aviation will say with even more gusto that they want a single terminal. The airlines will then say, “We’re happy for you but don’t want to pay for it and our customers don’t either.” And thus the game continues. Then comes period three when they emerge with a plan and we get to vote on it – but likely not before the end of 2016."

ReplyDeleteThe task force didn't listen to anyone. Being in favor of the single terminal plan was a foregone conclusion. People who talked about the convenience of the current terminals are being made out that they are selfish and standing in the way of the greater good.
ReplyDeleteNew terminal = increased airfares. But, hey, there will be more fast food choices and we'll be able to buy overpriced sunglasses right there in the terminal.

ReplyDeleteAll great comments. I never expected the mayors committee to come back with any other decision but what the mayor wants. I think Kansas City has more important issues to address besides an airport.
