Old school link re-purposed from social media . . . Take a look at Kansas City skyline, skyscrapers and development through the years.

Skyscrapercity.com: Kansas City, Missouri - “The Little Apple“

A neat collection of pix that shows this town growing and reaching greater heights mostly without the help of a toy train.

  1. Shame the Killa City can't go back to those earlier

    times and get a "do-over".

  2. And the two tallest buildings downtown have vacancy rates of around 40%.
No problem. Just keep getting the taxpayers on the hook.
With half-empty buildings and the P&L District, downtown KCMO is little more than a movie set and a taxpayer-funded amusement park for 20-something year olds.
And the 83% of the metro residents who don't live in KCMO just laugh and avoid it as much as they can.
And the folks at city hall just keep dumping more millions into it hoping clueless out-of-towners buy the hype.

  5. Manhattan, KS, is the Little Apple, not KCMO.

  6. KCMO is the crab apple

  7. And I bet those buildings in the black and white picture were done without a TIF, handout, tax break, or otherwise taxpayer fronting the money. It's impossible to believe that anything ever was built without corporate welfare.

  11. Guess the kick ass tipsters of Tony's Johnson County, aka show me pay-for-play ghost writes, didn't tip him to the 20 year TIF and 22 year 1% sales tax that NO ONE GOT TO VOTE ON for a poorly constructed fake stucco "convention hotel" in an industrial wasteland in Lenexa that started construction today...
