KANSAS CITY COMMUNITY CONSENSUS: MARY SANCHEZ SELLS OUT WESTSIDE ON CINCO DE MAYO WEEKEND!!!
Here's a bit of community reporting that offers insight into the further decline of our local Dead Tree Media institution.
To wit . . .
KANSAS CITY WESTSIDE INSIDERS RAGE BECAUSE TOKEN LATINA MARY SANCHEZ DIDN'T OFFER ANY PROMO FOR CINCO DE MAYO WEEKEND!!!
Community events for places like Guadalupe Center and other neighborhood volunteer organizations depend on local newsies taking a bit of mercy and using filler-time in their broadcasts to send a shout out for a good cause. From Troost Fest to Jazz events and countless other local gatherings. . . Dead Tree Media at least makes mention of similar community events throughout the metro.
However . . .
CLEARLY, SELLOUT MARY SANCHEZ DIDN'T ADVOCATE AT ALL FOR KANSAS CITY'S WESTSIDE CINCO DE MAYO WEEKEND CELEBRATION BECAUSE THE NEWSPAPER ONLY RAN A PINCHE PHOTO GALLERY AFTER IT WAS TOO LATE TO DRAW VISITORS!!!
No coverage . . . No profile glam articles.
I can only assume that Mary Sanchez was out playing sing-along with Butch Rigby @ some jazz club and too busy to think about fundraising efforts for working families who share just a bit of her long forgotten heritage.
And so . . .
COMMUNITY DISCONTENT WITH THIS SELLOUT LADY REVEALS THAT THE KANSAS CITY STAR REALLY ISN'T GETTING THEIR MONEY'S WORTH BY KEEPING MARY SANCHEZ AROUND!!!
In fairness, maybe she mops the floors when she's not busy transcribing Democratic Party talking points.
Regardless, Mary Sanchez neglected her own community and sold out any kind of concern for the largest Cinco De Mayo festival in Kansas City. Therefore, the consensus among local Latino newsmakers (all three of them) is that Mary is a poor excuse for diversity window dressing and even The Star could do better.
