It may all sound bad, but having those threats in your life is completely outweighed by the creativity and amenities of living in KCMO.

ReplyDeleteJust more proof that the right parts of JoCo are THE place to be if you can afford them. I say “the right parts,” because there are places in JoCo that are starting to draw trash from Mo and Dotte. But the places I’m referring to are not near those areas. And before you pseudo-urbanites start beating your tired, old drum about the arts and culture of KCMO and the bland, beige McMansions on cul-de-sacs, let me tell you that I will wager any day that my Ks neighborhood is better represented at the opera, symphony, art museums, etc. than your fellow urban wannabes. Furthermore, I’m blessed to live in one of, if not THE, most beautiful suburbs of JoCo, and there is a wide variety of architectural styles ranging from Tudor to colonial and Georgian to Italianate, with not a beige McMansion for miles. Add to this, excellent public schools, top notch private clubs, and first-rate protection services (police, fire, etc.) which allow my family and me to walk the streets of our neighborhood at any time feeling completely safe and protected.
ReplyDeleteBreak ins are spiking everywhere. A lot of this is because of the weather, and a lot of it is because kids are out of school.
ReplyDeleteThe city should be proactive about these issues instead of letting them spiral out of control. Crime and schools, mayor.

ReplyDeleteAs a resident of Brookside, and as an ex-resident of the suburbs, I can tell you one thing about break-ins, crime, etc. Nothing drives me crazier, than suburbanites crying about how safe their community is, and how "nothing like this ever happens here", when there is a rash of break-ins in their precious neighborhoods.
The simple truth is that no community is safe from crime, no individual is safe from violent crime, and it doesn't matter where you live.......YOU CAN'T GET AWAY FROM IT.
Sure, there is more of a chance of breakins if you live near downtown or near the "bad part of town", but remember, we moved from the OP surburbs to Brookside, because we were so tired of the generic sameness of our old neighborhood.
