I am hoping that responses in the comments have a bit more insight than taxpayer funded propaganda to support the local hospitality industry and all of their friends.

    They went to Portland on a junket and saw the train.....and wanted one too.

    They visited other cities on a junket and saw their airports.....and wanted a new one for themselves.

    They care more about trying to impress non-residents than serving their taxpaying constituents.

    They neglected their city school district, their streets & bridges, their water/sewer infrastructure, their bloated fire department, their underfunded employee retirement system, etc.

    They ignored the stagnant national economy, the high unemployment, the high inflation in food/energy, the record number on food stamps, and continued to raise the sales tax, continued the economic death penalty known as the "earnings tax", continued the giveaways to developers and wealthy corporations, etc.
