CELEBRATE THE KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR SALES TAX SPIKE!!!

Pulled this thesis out of a thoughtful round-up from The Pitch: The downtown sales tax could go as high as 11.1 percent by the end of the year. Other places, like the Plaza, however, could still see the sales tax exceed 12 percent.

The sad part about this one is that streetcar advocates play it off like it's no big deal but won't answer to chasing biz out of the city and making life harder for po'folk.

  5. It's already 11.35% in areas covered by the TDD and CID. If the MO transportation tax passes, it will be 12.1% and that includes independence ave as well.

12 percent plus a 20% tip sure makes those PF Chang lettuce wraps a bit pricey.

  11. But yet no bitching and moaning about a 3/4 statewide sales tax for transportation. Uninformed voters are cute.
