CAN YOU IDENTIFY THE NEXT BIG KANSAS CITY REAL ESTATE BUBBLE???
It's a question that will determine quite a bit of local subsidy and political reality by way of TIF breaks.
Here are the contenders:
DOWNTOWN - Billions poured inside the loop and the miracle hasn't happened just yet. Folks who consider this location might just be eternal optimists.
THE WEST BOTTOMS - Lots of empty space and fire traps for trendy hipsters.
THE WESTSIDE SOUTHWEST BLVD CORRIDOR - It's just not a Kansas City real estate game without gentrification and outright theft. The crappy coffee plane could lead the way.
Make your decision carefully, either way only the developers will win.

Whitney Kerr and James Stower's playground for Dr. Alphonse Mephesto over off the Blue River. Because the area already has a filled to capacity landfill, Bannister Federal Complex toxins, God knows what from the Marion's pharma plant but lacks the more modern biotech engineered evil need to fill the holes and caves created around the Blue River and Grandview Triangle. (Grandview Triangle - It's like the Bermuda Triangle except logic dissappears).

ReplyDeleteSecond is JoCo when Sprint moves half it's workers to Cali. JoCo will feel the effect of that shift for years to come.
They should build a prison in the Sprint campus. That's the only thing that will fit!

ReplyDeleteAll the overbuilding and heavily subsidized apartments will be emptying out as the millenials age out, want families, and head for the safety, yards, and good schools of the suburbs.
And if the crime and violence in KCMO continue to spread at its current rate, the emptying out will happen even sooner.
A new suburbanite is just another hipster who's been mugged, become a victim of a break-in, or has suffered a car burglary.
There's only so much "urban enviornment" anybody can take.
