TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! MUST READ: TRANSIT ACTIVIST CLAY CHASTAIN 5 POINT PLAN FOR KANSAS CITY!!!

TKC NOTE: This morning we're muy EXCITED to feature some criticism of Mayor Sly along with a SOLUTION AND PLAN to local transit and economic woes from none other than Kansas City's preeminent transit activist Clay Chastain - The only guy to win a citywide rail transit vote.

To wit . . .

RIGHT NOW KANSAS CITY ACTIVIST CLAY CHASTAIN TOUTS HIS 5 POINT PLAN TO PUT KANSAS CITY BACK ON TRACK TOWARD A MORE VIABLE TRANSIT PLAN!!!

Here's the word from Mr. Chastain:

Mayor James not leading. Kansas City needs a new leader with a new vision to reduce Kansas City's inner city violence and Restore the Core, even if that leader currently resides 1,000 miles away.

A mayor that continually goes before the cameras... in the face of mounting inner city violence and marauding youths frightening citizens...and offers nothing but lame observations and excuses, is not leading this city. Unfortunately, Mayor James has been too preoccupied cheerleading glitzy projects than addressing the fact that Kansas City will never move forward until the city is made a safer place to live. Any new vision must directly and indirectly address that fact. Yes, it will cost money...most good things do...but in the end the investments will not only bring Kansas City back, it will bring the "City Beautiful" roaring back!

Here then is my (condensed) 5-step vision to make the city safer, more prosperous, and more livable:

#1. Establish a new police force comprised of foot patrols in Kansas City's most violent neighborhoods. Police officers will be instructed to get to know youths, take them under their wings, and provide them fatherly guidance many of them never receive.

#2. Convert large blighted and crime ridden areas of the City into organic youth farms that will teach youths how to be profitable organic food growers (America's farmers are aging and not being replaced fast enough), and establish a new Eastside Farmer's Market to sell their wares along with a new Eastside 4-H organization.

#3. Establish a new Eastside Trade Center (Obama is incorrect...not all youths need to obtain a college education) to teach youths any trade skill (carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, welding, mechanics, etc.) they might enjoy; and show them that practicing this trade can create a sense of self worth, a means to make a decent living, and a productive way to be of service to their community.

#4. Advertise and begin a nation-wide search for conscientious green manufacturers who would establish their businesses in the inner city of Kansas City as part of a help the inner city of America program, and provide new modern transit to those facilities.

#5. Voters approve the light rail-based, multimodal (Union Station headquartered), citywide transit initiative (4,000 Kansas City voters signed in support of) that will not only provide all citizens a more efficient and environmentally sound public transportation system to move about the city, but also one that will reduce Kansas City's skyrocketing transportation costs and generate citywide renewal and new jobs.

First, thank you Tony for doing some real news service for the people of KC, next, the plan IS doable and makes sense cross culturally and I have seen it, sly is not the one to do it. Let him go out on a high and become a Senator and plug in a new face. Chastain will have to take that plan on a higher plain and even more out the box but it can help Kansas City...

This is a helluva lot more than that jig Mayor has offered..

6:25 Thanks Clay. Don't push it.

Clay, you are a community activist. I admire your tenacity . How about you and Alonzo get together, solve the crime problem. THEN, we will work on this space train, hover craft , transporter you dream about. All a fanasty !

I have to say the Byron Funkhouser of Virginia has some very good ideas. I only disagree with placing anything of substance at Union Station. It should be reserved for "fake King Tut" type exhibits that hipsters that like to throw "R-bombs" can enjoy while sipping their free coffee from mom's kitchen.

I agree with 6:34 regarding the current so-called Mayor. At least the "Dating Game of the East" is putting out ideas, something Sly is either unable, or unwilling, to do.

i voted for my motherfuckin gondolas, where are they SLY you grifter bow tie wearin' sumbitch

Where is "Blond Bombshell?" Usually he has some pithy remark.

First off 6:47 Byron the school bus chasing , sheep shagger is from West Virginia. He has nothing to do with this conversation. You mean Clay Chastain.

Anonymous said...

He is adjusting his too tight fitting thong before calling someone a racist or klansman and then ducking back into his moms bedroom closet to pick out a outfit.

Anonymous said...

7:38 are you totally STUPID ? 6:47 was making reference to the fact that Chastain is from Virginia and shagger is from WV. Neither live in KC and need to tend to their own business.

If you are that stupid, please refrain from commenting in the future. Reading must be optional in the KC school district.

No 7:42 I wasn't. Don't get ahead of yourself blazer.

Wow , 7:42. Maybe you should drink the decaff and lay off the sugar.
But I agree that the shit licker from WV should get some help.

1. Cops will not leave their autos, it is not safe to walk in the neighborhoods they patrol
2. Inner city kids are not going to grow veggies, unless they can smoke them.
3. Good idea, but as long as selling drugs is easier and more profitable than being a blue collar worker it won't work.
4. Green manufacturing is at best a joke, at worst a money grab by a bunch of rent seekers.
5. We can have the best mass transit system at a fraction of the cost with the plain old bus.

There is a Federally funded program that does provide vocational education to young people aged 16-24, it is called Job Corps and has been around for almost 50 years.
I like the idea about the "green" emphasis.. the Farmer's Market is not well placed for people east of Troost and I do think that community gardens is a great idea. Lincoln University had something like that going at their campus here in KC.

As for the idea of Officer Friendly... I don't know... there is so much antagonism against law enforcement now.

There once was a sorry blog loner,
And mass transit gave him a boner.
Chastain's plan is smellin'
Like a Blond Watermelon
As the ideas are really all groaners.

SO if we go Light Rail how is that cheaper.
The Streetcar cost $5 million each a bus only $350,000 each, just think how many buses could be running without digging up the streets.

better build some taller walls at the zoo. KC monkeys trying to escape. And doing it!

Don't go away mad, Clay Chastain. Just go away.

9:17, do you want a rhyme off? You can't beat an old school from NYC.

Glazer and polar bear can't rhyme.

I also hate the organic gardening idea. 8:16 and 8:49 have good points.

Very rarely does gardening in the district work. But hey, the aldi's sells cheap booze.

4-H is much more than gardening. Don't drag 4-H into this. This is more of an americorp type thing.
