Now here's something to think about . . .
CLAY CHASTAIN HAS ALREADY DEMONSTRATED THAT HE CAN EASILY COLLECT MORE THAN THIS NUMBER OF SIGNATURES TO FORCE A VOTE!!!
In reality, low-voter turnout make Kansas City Democracy much shakier than most would imagine.

TOTAL RECALL OF KANSAS CITY'S ELECTED GOVERNMENT LOOMS
After the recent Missouri Supreme Court ruling rejecting the City's 2.5 year baseless claim that the light rail initiative was unconstitutional, the Light Rail Committee of Petitioners sent Mayor Sly James and the entire City Council a demand letter to place the light rail initiative before voters in August.
Mayor James and the City Council have failed to respond, but rather are continuing to pursue another round of litigation to keep the initiative off the ballot...this time over a minor technicality.
Stated reason for recall will be: The undemocratic, injurious, and harmful action taken by all 13 City Council members (including the mayor) against the initiative law in the City Charter, the democratic initiative process itself, the public interest, and Missouri case law that says, "Initiatives shall be liberally construed to effectuate their purpose."
The impropriety and bad faith actions of this elected government (in denying the people of Kansas City a vote on a valid light rail initiative signed in support of by 4,000 Kansas City, Missouri registered voters) continues even though the initiative met all the signature and procedural requirements outlined in the City's Charter, and was recently ruled constitutional by the Missouri Supreme Court.
Who would be recalled: Mayor Sly James and all 12 City Council members since they all voted 13-0 not to place the valid initiative before voters when it was first submitted to the City nearly 3 years ago.
City Clerk Ms. Sanders has advised us that the following statistics represent the number of signatures needed in each council district to put up for a recall vote both district council representatives; and included are the approximate number of signatures needed to subject Mayor Sly James to a recall election as well:
Both District I City Council members....2947
Both District II City Council members...1,325
Both District III City Council members...1,633
Both District IV City Council members...3,044
Both District V City Council members...2,466
Both District VI City Council members...2,871
Mayor James...less than 8,000 - Update . . . It's actually 14, 287
If completely successful, this recall petition effort would remove from office the entire elected government of Kansas City, Missouri.
Seems doable and justifiable. Elections may come early this time.
