ReplyDeleteYou have the plaza problem too. How embarrassing would that have been if the convention was going on and a bunch of visitors went to the plaza for dinner and drinks and then the mobs come. Pushing people into fountains, fighting in the streets, blocking traffic, knocking food off patio tables running by, etc.
Rapes in one of the high schools recently. School district with no accreditation. high crime in general. A growing hipster population that knows nothing about global events, and could care less about anything not related to: bowties, colored skinny jeans for males, and high rent apartments in poor neighborhoods.
Kansas City may have a few cool buildings that you can visit all in just one day, but its the culture at city hall and beyond that is eating the city alive.
I am not sure Kc ever had a shot but this seals the fate of KCMO.

And half the residents of KCMO live north of the river, which more closely resemble Overland Park than Brookside.
People live where they want by choice, so you have to sort of ask yourself why they make the choices they do.
And downtown KCMO is NOT an urban environment for anyone other that someone who's come to town from a rural community.
