Credit where it's due . . . Kansas City's top law enforcement peeps and authorities put local crooks on notice recently with a notable presser that sent a message directly to local thugs.
And so we need to ask . . .
WILL CALLING OUT KANSAS CITY CRIMINALS REGARDING LOCAL VIOLENCE LEAD TO SAFER STREETS?!?!?
I'd like to think the answer is YES and this message is really a signal that KCMO has a renewed sense of purpose about local crime given that a kid took a bullet in the spine over Easter weekend.
But I'm an optimist like that . . .

ReplyDeleteWith no effort by any east side "leaders" to encourage and support residents cooperating with the police and the urban terrorists running entire neighborhoods, the chances of getting hurt or worse if you talk with the cops is way more than 55%.
And without information and witnesses who will testify, the cops aren't going to be able to make arrests or cases and the chances of paying a price for gang banging is a whole lot less than snitchin'.
Even the thugs can do that math.

ReplyDeleteMost, if not all, of these shootings (not including the highway sniper) are drug and gang related. Go after the gangs and the drugs and you will clean up a lot of this mess.

So how can COMBAT spend $15-20 million year after year on anti-drug, drug treatment, and anti-crime programs with nonprofits and have ZERO cahnge in the homicide rate?
No accountability, no responsibility, no results.
And the money keeps flowing to the same ineffective organizations, the press conferences keep coming one after another, and a new program rolls into town about every other year.
There'll will be over 100 murders in KCMO this year in spite of the February lull caused by winter weather.
And the same folks will asking for even more money which the electeds will happily give them to make believe they're doing anything even as they continue to neglect and ignore the most basic function of local government.

Upon further reflection on her given remarks, Jean Peters Baker realized she was advocating for something that would put her out of a job! Then she woke up from the dream, and felt confident that nothing would ultimately come from her pleas to end the violence.
We must be more than sick. Being sick won't solve the problem. Do something outside the box.
