Kansas City Airport Double Talk This Week

The new normal in Kansas City journalism features local stories up for grabs with no definitive facts or data . . . Just spin.

This works out good for TKC so we're not complaining . . .

Nevertheless, this tidbit about the airport came by way of dead tree media recently:

KCI task force is poised to recommend airport terminal layout

Okay . . .

But remember that the KC Biz Journal (the better paper) told us that there really wasn't going to be a specific recommendation.

Accordingly, let's not forget that  . . .

WE'RE PLAYING FOR BILLION DOLLAR STAKES HERE SO THIS KANSAS CITY STORY IS UP FOR GRABS!!!

Don't expect any definitive reporting from ANYBODY . . . The only person we sorta trust here is probably Austin Alonzo but not really because he kind of reminds us of the bad guy from every 80s movie.

Anyhoo . . . Real talk: KC power elite want a horrible, new single-terminal airport despite what everybody else says. And no matter what, Council Dude Russ Johnson isn't answering any questions.

  1. My money is on KCBJ being right. It took the Star two weeks to catch up and only then once their handlers at city hall had come up with a new story to get their billion dollar terminal back on track.

  2. Not having a specific recommendation just takes the issue out of the public eye so that the usual suspect swells can work their magic under the table and behind closed doors as usual.
Then, late in the summer during vacations and on a Friday on a slow news day, up it pops!
    Thanks for playing,

  3. The mayor picks 24 insiders and they don't even have the guts to do his dirty work?

  4. I think the problem is that even his handpicked insiders were saying they did not want to put their names on a recommendation with so many holes in it. Now the keepers are trying to rein them all in.

  5. Perhaps they are afraid when the new airport becomes a financial disaster the public will remember their names. I wouldn't worry, the press in this city never assigns responsibility for failure.

  6. Of course, Berkebile doesn't want to repair the current airport. He's an architect on the public teat (Streetcar, Greensburg etc.).
He wants a big project to help make his payroll!

  7. The building will be haunted.
