TOY TRAIN STREETCAR BROOKSIDE DEFEAT SUGGESTS KANSAS CITY ANTI-TAX RESISTANCE GROWING STRONGER!!!

Here's just a bit of trend-spotting and possibly good news for Kansas City . . .

What nobody else is asking except for our AWESOME TKC BLOG COMMUNITY . . .

IS THE DEFEAT OF THE TOY TRAIN STREETCAR IN BROOKSIDE A SIGN THAT KANSAS CITY IS GROWING TIRED OF MAYOR SLY'S TAX AND SPEND STYLE??!?

Sure bow ties are cool but not when they cost people big bucks . . .

Here's what KICK-ASS KANSAS CITY INSIDERS are saying . . .

- Some of the same crew who opposed the Jackson County Translational Tax helped to throw the toy train off-track in Brookside.

- Real neighborhood voters defeated faux activists who were mostly consultants and political appointees advocating this boondoggle.

- Sly got was described as "combative and angry" amid the Brookside Toy Train Streetcar discussion and it's clear that Kansas City's top elected official isn't so nice when people don't give him his way.

So, tonight's question . . .

IS KANSAS CITY GROWING TIRED OF MAYOR SLY'S BOW TIE TAX AND SPEND STYLE?!?!

The Brookside Toy Train Streetcar rejection seems to suggest as much.

  1. They'll soon be back and in greater numbers.

  2. When is Sly going to drop the bow tie and show up in bell bottoms or a liesure suit? Or maybe skinny jeans and red sneakers.
Or he might even have an Elvis costume hidden away somewhere.
He needs to keep up with the times or we'll all "be left behind".
    Small mid-west town cool!

  3. What actual responsiblities or accountability does the "streetcar advisory committee" have?
When the whole thing goes south financially they'll all be remembering how THEY really didn't think it was such a good idea after all.
And then they'll be appointed to another committee to oversee "the next big thing".
    Cutting edge!

  4. So the Max costs 43 million and that is what the east side gets for the sales tax higher than shopping North of the river and Taxing the Churches and other providers of services for the economically disadvantaged?

Real nice build the First Class City on the backs of the poor.

  5. What actual responsibilities or accountability does the "streetcar advisory committee" have?

At this point brainwashing themselves into believing they have all the support they need in the next theater of conflict. The Battle of Midtown.

  7. Who is on the committee?

  8. 8:49; they have virtually no accountability. A major flaw of allowing an unelected third party manage funds; especially to the tune of half a billion dollars. An audit of Missouri TDDs reveals the repeated poor management of these funds.

Any business or person within the TDD is at the mercy of these creeps if they get their hands on this money. You only get the city services you require if you support their streetcar.

Don't believe they're so shallow? Ask any of them a tough question and see how quickly you are singled out. There are countless documented examples.

  9. Sly is black. To too many voters that's all that matters. The people get the government they deserve. The east side is the shithole it is because every elect morons and crooks

  10. Is KC growing tired of Sly...um, let me think...YES!!! ...and his thug son as well.

  11. Sly has an ego problem that doesn't seem to allow for the occasional bit of contrition. He ran for mayor from the shadows -- behind the curtain -- where people can't see your flaws. He gets sold these half-baked ideas from whatever eco dev grifter has his ear that day or week or month and he doesn't seem to have that sixth sense that all good pols have. That Bill Clinton-styled way of casually putting a finger to the wind and making an about face in order to save your ass. No, Sly doesn't have that just like the Funk didn't have that and it's probably going to cause him the fame fate as the tall lanky one.

  12. Shut up DAVID REMLEY you are an idiot!!!!

  13. I am always suspicious when I hear the words "advisory", "consultant", or "study" in an organization's name. It is just a dog whistle for "spend other people's money" (usually mine).

  14. You are right to suspicious of the words "advisory committee", "consultant", and "study". As a city employee I can assure you that we the tax payers are about to take the raping of a lifetime. For whatever reason ( kickbacks, shady deals, incompetence , apathy......) you choose, sweet contracts are being handed out left and right by the water department . New contracts which end up costing double for virtually the same service as previous contracts are in progress right this moment. Why? Did the water dept. Fail to plan for the sudden influx of cash that would accompany the tripling of rates? I doubt it. Maybe we should ask Bill Downy or one of the other consultant who have set up shop in the basement of the water dept.
