TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! MIDTOWN KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR REBELLION TONIGHT!!!

Get ready for a showdown in Midtown Kansas City tonight.

To wit . . .

KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS TELL US THAT THE FIGHT TO KEEP THE TOY TRAIN STREETCAR FROM DESTROYING MIDTOWN KANSAS CITY WILL RAGE TONIGHT!!!

These meetings have been poorly attended throughout the city but recent opposition and concern about saving the Trolley Track Trail has created quite a bit of buzz. Let's not forget that Brookside reisdents want to keep a locomotive out their front lawns. Moreover, tax concerns are the final straw in toy train opposition.

The very BEST TKC TIPSTERS sent us the graphic and advise: "Street Car Project . . . Another Kansas City Sink Hole!"

It's cute and kinda reminds us of all the potholes in KCMO that are currently destroying vehicles in this town . . .

Anyhoo . . . This should be fun as consultants and the politically connected pretend to be neighborhood activists while REAL residents might soon bring Mayor Sly's transit plans to a full stop.

Deets:

Tonight's The Night - Thursday March 6th at 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM
St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Kansas City MO
11 E 40th Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64111
Public meeting to extend streetcar south to Midtown, Plaza, Brookside & Waldo.

Developing . . .

The train needs to be stopped. No excuse for it in Brookside.

The city's infrastructure is falling apart. The city can't pay it's bills so they keep borrowing, selling bonds and raising taxes, fees and whatever else they can think of. Money is pissed away on AimFoPeace, bringing thug boxers to town and the Mayor and council members are granted a dispensation to overspend their budgets. The toy train is just that....a toy and an extremely expensive one at that. Stop the train NOW!

Price tag for this boondoggle is now approaching a price tag of over One Billion Dollars. And they are just getting started downtown!! City Hall is spending taxpayer money and their future earning faster then freaking cocaine addicts! And it's all based on speculation!! Out of control!!

How dare Brookside and Waldo question the wisdom of us hipsters? They should know this is a done deal and if they don't like it they can always move.

Is there a bigger hypocrite in the world than a liberal Brooksiders opposing streetcar because it is using an existing transit ROW and because they would have to pay for it using their own tax dollars? It's a lot easier being a liberal when you are spending other people's money and taking other people's property.

Remember the e-tax. Remember the zoo tax. Remember the P&L tax. Remember the COMBAT tax. Remember the infrastructure tax. Remember our real estate taxes, personal property taxes, and sales taxes. AND THEY WANT A NEW TAX????? We voters will DEFEAT this goddamned streetcar just like that Health Care Tax. It is NOTHING but a way to funnel money into the "political elite's" coffers, meaning architects, construction firms, and engineering firms. Who all make corporate contributions, so they can all be rewarded by those in power - to get more taxes. And so the endless cycle goes. Enough is enough.

THE EMPEROR HAS NO CLOTHES

Also, don't forget the Water Department overcharges, plus the failure of KCMO to agree to an audit of the water department. AND - OUR INFRASTRUCTURE IS CRUMBLING! Because money poured into the rathole of greedy design/build assholes.

What everyone needs to understand is that even the original Main Street line can't possibly be paid for by just the little TDD that was passed by 375 voters.
These folks are way out over their skis financially and they need all these other areas to pass tax increases to even come close to closing the money gap.
Why do you think they BORROWED $10 million just for planning and are paying it back interest-only at the rate of $100 grand a year from PIAC funds?
Successful pushback from these Phase II areas, and the whole house of cards will come tumbling down.
All aboard.

I concur. It is dumb. Make it stop.

All of this streetcar money has to come from SOMEWHERE. And this KCMO government is wanting to take it from YOU. How many slices of the pie can this greedy government slice us up into before there is no pie left?

Taxes in this City have reached full saturation point, and there will be pushback to the EXTREME. Sly James will be voted out on this issue ALONE.

I Told You So said...

Dear Voting Public:
This toy train nonsense should work to influence your decision to re-elect Sly James as Mayor. Your taxes have increased ten fold while city services have decrease exponentially. Let this be a lesson that all smiles are not happy smiles; some are actually quite menacing... the smile of Sly James in particular. Don't cause yourselves any greater harm by re-electing this cad.
Sincerely,
Itoldyouso

we will see when the red light camers are done and the 'E' tax is voted out at the next election.

Where do I sign the recall petition for this clown Sly James?

He's a goddamned thief of public funds.

Anonymous said...

I think they were expecting a crowd full of ignorant mindless sheep that would go along and agree with everything they could roll right over at this meeting. That's what they've been used to up till now.

Itoldyouso is so right. We have ALL had enough of this assclown Sly James and his tax, tax, tax, tax, tax mentality. Let's elect a fiscal conservative next time around - who has the best interests of the entire city in mind, not just the rich swells.

This train will move CRIMINALS into south KC.

I was there and it was a rebellion. The opponents took over the meeting, through NextRail and BNIM off their game. They had to completely change their planned format and actually listen to us for a change. The 3 council people there, Glover, Marcason, and Johnson got an earlfull. All three had that deer in the headlights look from the questions being hurled at them.

It was also enjoyable watching Glover yell at Johnson, and tell him to shut up. best moment of the night.

Maybe they get it now-we don't want or need a toy train in KC.

There are actually a few conservatives in Brookside. Don't insult me by limping me in with liberals.

WTF?

Was entertaining watching Pro Streetcar camp coming apart at the seams. Must be the first time they've actually had to speak with real experienced adults who actually know how to think.

Mensa Man got called down by the Glover!! So they start fighting among themselves because they are not actually as reported "All of one mind" I think that you will see some surprising backpedaling in the future. If the citizens keep the pressure on the council will start to fold in a couple of surprising places --those who want to run for Mayor next.

Toot Tooot Toot Here comes the train and Sly jumps on behind.
