- Mayor Sly's supporters already have 4 votes to force City Manager Troy out, election season favors could easily earn the remaining support necessary.
- Getting a new City manager going into an election year would offer a much needed selling point for Mayor Sly.
The City Manager was awarded a nice compensation package so it's not like he'll be complaining while he's riding his golden parachute.

With the City's finances in bad shape, no one on the council is really wanting the City Manager to pony up more money to improve snow removal when the snow always melts in a few days any way. The City Manager may get fired, as no one stays in the job forever, but it will not because of failed snow removal.

I've always more or less been impressed by Schulte, aside from the fact that he's loose with our money and there's not much accountability on who's spending it/how it's being spent.

+1 9:53pm. Why isn't the Public Works Department responsible for snow removal? Pat Klein ought to be the one fired; and Sherri McIntyre. Fire her sister too. I don't see how this is Troy's fault. There's no connection. Sly is trying to use snow removal as a (weak) excuse to fire Troy Schulte so he rehire Wayne Cauthen. There's no clear correlation, that I can tell, which would cause the City Manager any strife over snow removal. This is a public works issue. I guess Sly doesn't want to come down on them since they've already done tons of illegal work on the East Patrol project. They get a pass.

ReplyDeleteTroy should be fired for hiring Sherri McIntrye. She left because she didn't like Cauthen. She got fired from two consulting firms because she sucked as an engineer. She was hired by Schulte only because she was a female engineer. She has NO, repeat NO experience in Public Works maintenance and operations. This is why she and Schulte should be fired. But it won't happen because of a dumb, chicken shit, do nothing city council. Life will go on and the people of Kansas City will continue with shitty basic services.

ReplyDeleteSnow removal has actually been quite good this year with the exception of sidewalks around city hall and that area. The real worries are with wholesale layoffs of city staff
