Like it or not, the Rockfest 2014 lineup is rather unimpressive and prosaic . . .
We don't blame Rockfest producers for this somewhat mediocre set of artists with the exception of old school favorites Korn. The reality is that hardcore rock is in desperate need of revival and the genre is now far from its early heyday in the early 2000s.
Still . . . The fun of Rockfest has very little to do with the music and is really about the "interesting" crowds, quite a bit of public nudity and watching the suburban fans trek to Liberty Memorial and often enjoy a tragic mudfest much too close to the porta-potties.

This is an important Kansas City question that we will certainly revisit but needed to ask FIRST before anybody else.

They've had mediocre lineups for 4-5 years now, and they still draw the crowds. Ehh, if it works for them...

ReplyDeleteOnce Hot Topic engulfed the genre, it became niched like jazz. I mean, you could argue the recent roots rock revival, but that doesn't. In fact, anything a hipster likes is irrelevant. They'd agree with me.
