Kansas City Red Light Camera Long Shot

Take a look at the best efforts of the newspaper to spin one court defeat after the next for Kansas City spy tech . . .

Bill in Missouri House could give KC's red-light cameras a green light

It's a nice bit of wishful thinking but it doesn't stand up to the slightest bit of scrutiny . . .

Real Talk . . .

KANSAS CITY INSIDERS FAMILIAR WITH JEFF CITY SAY THAT RED LIGHT CAMERA LEGISLATION IS DEAD THIS SESSION!!!

Even worse . . .

THE PUSH TO GET KANSAS CITY RED LIGHT CAMERAS BACK IN ACTION IS REALLY ABOUT FIXING OUR BUSTED BUDGET!!!

Never mind that a great many towns are moving away from this kind of spy tech . . .

Red Light cameras have earned nearly $2 Million for Kansas City coffers and that cash is DESPERATELY NEEDED right now . . . City Hall needs friendly Red Light Camera coverage right now so look for a few more nice stories that are vaguely related to safety but still don't take into account the price of legislation or constant defeats against Red Light Cameras in the courts.

  1. When I was young, I worked in a drugstore stocking shelves. We had a young man with down syndrome who worked in the store as well. He was friendly with all the customers and was always quick with a greeting and a smile. He used to tell the customers he ran the drugstore and no one ever questioned him. I feel the same way here in Kansas City when I think of the utter ineptitude that passes for leadership skills in local government.

  2. That was really a mean-spirited way of putting things. But we all can agree that KCMO government is inept and really run by the few elite who give campaign contributions, then get favors from elected people as compensation for these donations, which well exceed the initial donation. That's how local government works.

  3. There is just nothing like living in a state where 95 percent of the citizens are against something and the fucking state legislature passes it. Time these fat and dumb ass Missourians got off their ass and kicked some of these arrogant sonzabitches out in the street.

  5. They wouldn't "need" that $2M if they would stop trying to cram the streetcar boondoggle down our collective gullets. The streetcar supporters including Sly say it isn't for us, it's for Kansas Citians 30, 50 or 100 years from now. What are the chances that transportation technology 30, 50 or 100 years from now will favor a method of transportation deemed obsolete in the 1950's? Don't worry hipsters, as soon as we have economically viable self driving cars you can smoke pot and pub crawl all you want in your own car without endangering the rest of us and the only risk to yourself will be a faulty destination input.
