DEAD TREE MEDIA BACKS EVEN MORE KANSAS CITY WATER BOND BORROWING!!!

Kansas City is drowing in debut but Dead Tree Media doesn't see anything wrong with offering up more cash to a local government that's mostly concerned with building more toy trains.

KC Star Editorial: Voters should approve water bonds and change election rules to improve Kansas City

What's worse is that there hasn't been any real reporting on Kansas City Water Bonds . . . Remember TKC TIPSTERS BROKE THE STORY on the initial ask.

Meanwhile . . .

EXCLUSIVE: WHAT WE LIKE IS THAT KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTER ARE ASKING FOR A WATER DEPARTMENT AUDIT BEFORE KANSAS CITY VOTERS APPROVE MORE CASH!!!

NOW is really the only time to pose this question to Mayor Sly and City Council and watch them squirm around the answer and offer excuses as to why KCMO deserves more cash without any checks and balances.

  1. BREAKING!!!!

The KC Star wants to RAISE your taxes!
Question 1: "The Star recommends a YES vote on the city's request to authorize $500M in new water bonds. No tax increase is required, and higher water bills paid by commercial and residential users would help finance the bonds."

The IDIOT Editorial Board at the Star believes that by using misleading semantics, residents will think that they won't end up paying MORE money! Higher taxes or higher routine utility bills, the result is that residents WILL pay MORE!

Question 2: "The Star recommends a YES vote on the request to collect an annual permit fee from hotels and motels."
This is essentially another tax that will be passed on to anyone staying at a hotel.

How about Kansas City collecting a hefty "annual permit fee" on The Kansas City Star to inspect the premises, "especially when complaints have been made." In that case, the city will need a full-time resident inspector, due to the constant stream of complaints.

  5. Just got my water/sewer bill yesterday.

For 62 days of water and sewer use it's gonna cost me $35.77.

I'm so glad I moved out of K.C. 10 years ago. The best part is that my city has it's own water plant and doesn't have to buy from K.C.

    Bwwwwhahahhahahaha!

I can't wait to see K.C. residents bill for the Toy Train and KCI Boondoggle, along with your new water bills.

Don't blame me, you voted them all in and continue to put up with their malfeasance and money grabs.

    Enjoy!

    Lol!

  7. There is a serious problem in KCMO with water and sewer. Things need to be improved and it is going to hurt, but thats what you deal with when you live in KCMO.

It hurts, it sucks, it has to happen. However, there needs to be outside oversight as a condition. This is a lot of money, and when you deal with this much money you are going to have a lot of hands going for the cookie jar.

  8. 11:44 pm: my vote will be NO until there is both an audit of current operations and the oversight you speak of. I realize our problems and issues but do not trust anyone in the water department administration. Right now, it is defined by patronage and hiring by any criteria EXCEPT competence.
