TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY COUNTRY CLUB PLAZA CRACKDOWN AFTERMATH: FEWER PROBLEMS, LESS PATRONS!!!
Once again there was an overwhelming police presence on the Country Club Plaza over the weekend.
To wit . . .
ACCORDING TO QUITE A FEW COUNTRY CLUB PLAZA INSIDERS: WE HAVE DEETS AND JUST FEW PIX FROM THE KCPD WEEKEND CRACKDOWN!!!
All of the insiders spoke of the overwhelming police presence but this insight was the best:
"It was like visiting a police state. There was a police car every block and the whole place was on lock down. I hear the city is picking up the VERY EXPENSIVE TAB on this one and it's not coming out of the department's budget. It should be interesting to see the final total but this was an overwhelming display of KCPD manpower on a really slow night . . . At one point there were more cops on the street than anyone else."
A question about the game plan over the long term . . .
"The theater seemed to be the focus of it all and I think they did the right thing watching for trouble-makers. I just don't know how long they can keep it up."
From a service industry perspective . . .
"Had the misfortune of working the plaza this weekend. Tips were down 60% for just about everyone I talked to versus last week. Yes, it was a ghost town. I'm hoping it was the cold weather and not just that everyone was scared of all the flash mob speculation and the police cars that everyone was talking about over dinner."
And so . . .
LIKE IT OR NOT AND SO-FAR UNREPORTED BY MAINSTREAM MEDIA: BIZ WAS DOWN DRAMATICALLY LAST WEEKEND ON THE PLAZA AMID THE FLASH MOB CRACKDOWN!!!
TKC market research science reveals that police did a good job keeping the Plaza safe this weekend but there's a definite possibility that teen flash mobbers and previous Plaza "crackin" might have already done a lot of damage to the economy of the local party district.
