TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY GREEN LADY LOUNGE GIVES UP JAZZ CLUB ROOTS!!!

Remember what I was saying about the Kansas City Jazz club glut...

CHECK OUT THIS SAD NEWS ABOUT THE KANSAS CITY GREEN LADY LOUNGE LOSING ITS JAZZ ROOTS FROM KICK-ASS PIANO MAN MARK LOWREY!!!

Here's the word . . .

Mark Lowrey Seyz: "It is with sadness that I say that the Green Lady Lounge is selling its piano and giving up its identity as a jazz club in March. I've loved playing most Friday nights there this year and have enjoyed consistently large crowds of new and old faces. This is sad news indeed, but let's cherish the venues that remain in the fight for presenting the high quality live music that defines Kansas City."

Now, let's remember that we never said Kansas City doesn't have an VIBRANT Jazz music scene.

In fact, serious music aficionados MUST CHECK OUT MARK LOWREY BECAUSE HE'S A BRILLIANT MUSICIAN!!!

But there simply isn't the market to sustain all of these jazz clubs opened by people who just wanted to be the next Beena.

There's still a fight for Jazz Club dominance in Kansas City but let's not forget that the AMAZING MUSICAL SKILL OF performers like Mark Lowrey is what the "scene" should really focus on promoting and not the ego trips of baby boomers looking for a new hobby.

  1. I had the pleasure of seeing Mark over the holidays at the Majestic. This cat is money and his band blew me away. He had a jam going with friends sitting in and playing some of the best Jazz I've ever heard. Shame one more cool venue is disappearing.

  16. Well, John Scott strikes again. He's got a horrible reputation from his Scott Fitness days of yelling at employees, customers and trainers. There is a reason he's not in that business anymore. And, sounds like he's making another bonehead move by getting rid of one of Kansas City's best guys, Mark Lowery, and more importantly, the freaking piano. I'll wait to see what this place looks like, especially when the jazz ends at midnight and the place clears out anyway. Well done, John Scott. (PS - did you have to post your comment like five times to get it noticed?)
