TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! COMING SOON: KANSAS CITY JOURNALIST ELITE TO DISCUSS KANSAS CITY RACE ISSUES!!!

This is an important discussion that even more denizens among the Kansas City media elite need to have . . . Here's a note an important upcoming conversation:

City Renewed | A Lecture and Forum on Race Issues in Kansas City

Deets:

"Join us at Redeemer Fellowship on March 11 at 6:30 pm for City Renewed, a lecture and forum on race issues in Kansas City. The Kansas City Star columnist Lewis Duiguid, The Kansas City Call columnist Eric Wesson, and Urban League of Greater Kansas City president and CEO Gwen Grant will offer their personal and professional assessments of our city’s deeply racialized condition. Redeemer staff member Brian Key will also lead a moderated discussion to better understand how we might be able to step into these issues."

We note Gwen Grant as part of the journalist given that she's now one of Kansas City's top pundits thanks to her appearance on KCPT's Ruckus.

Even better, we really like the angle the forum seems to be taking:

"Whether overt or subtle, Kansas City has a long history of racial segregation, discrimination, and violence. City Renewed seeks to engage underlying social, cultural, and systemic issues and consider what it looks like to pursue the welfare and renewal of our city together."

Check the video promoting the talk and series from a local church:

Coming soon . . .

  1. There might be a lot of hate on this but you are correct on one issue. This is a conversation that more people need to have. I'd only wish that we had more people participating like some of the KC managers and owners in media.

  2. Oh for the Love of GOD2/24/14, 6:00 PM

    Is it April Fools Day?
    Seriously?
    These are "JOURNALIST ELITES"?

    ????????????????????

    Gwen Grant particularly?

    Puh-leazzzzzzzzzz!

  3. 6:00 +1000.

  4. Gwen Grant is a fucking cunt. And she fucking knows it.

  5. Diuguid? I can't believe that guy still has a job. Actually I do know why. Same reason Hoops still does. And I don't dislike them because they are black. I can't stand McClanahan either.

    ReplyDelete
  6. McClanahan retired a year ago. Thanks so much for keeping up, nitwit.

  7. I'll tell u bitches this, you talk a good game now but if you ever said your hateful shit in real life, you would be run out of town and quick.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Diuguid will try to convince everyone that it's still and always will be 1963.
Wesson will try to convince the audience that the purpose of being a "journalist" is actually to get political consulting contracts by writing favorable stories about the folks who are paying you.
Grant will help the audience understand that the only purpose of government, foundations, and corporations is to be funding troughs which can best be accessed through intimidation or outright extortion.
    Should be quite a night.
    Will Councilman Brooks be there?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Lewis huh? I can already foresee where he is going to place the blame. He is too predictable.

    ReplyDelete
  10. The way you seriously approach a discussion about race or other matters of difference is to have honest candid conversations with people, not some big town hall meeting with the same old tiresome self-appointed spokesmen repeating the same old predictable slogans, complaints, and blame.
What will be said that night is as predictable as the sun coming up in the morning.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I agree that this must be some kind of early April Fools joke!

"KC Journalist Elite"??? WTF??? I don't think there is such a thing!

Lewis DoBad = don't respect his work
Eric Wesson = he's ok, though I only know his commentary from KC WIR.
Gwen Grant = doesn't even fit the category of journalist.

Unless, until, I hear that more people are being invited to the discussion, why would I attend? I already know what Lewis and Gwen will be saying, as I've heard it before, and disagree.

If Tony joins the roundtable, then it might make it bearable.

  12. I wonder if my name will be mentioned?

    ReplyDelete
  13. I wonder if they will mention these 150 black on white hate crimes that were committed just over the last 15 months, or they will drone on about Emmit Till?

    http://dailykenn.blogspot.com/2013/09/recent-black-on-white-crimes.html

They could click on any of the links and discuss the murders, rapes and assaults, then discuss why the Attorney General of the United States will only prosecute white on black hate crimes, of which there are sometimes as many as 2 a year.

    Ptobabaly not.

I wonder if they will discuss the "Knock Out Game" and "Polar Bear Hunting"?

  14. Check out suburbia in south Kansas City for example. Belton Missouri is profile city. Their city government and I believe all city employees are all white Caucasian. Surely there are qualified intelligent people of other nationalities who live Belton-Cass County.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Sounds like an Affirmative Action meeting where the participants pretend they are smart enough to have landed jobs without the benefit of Affirmative Action.

    ReplyDelete
  16. The members of this "panel" are perfect examples of the old truth that if you do the same things, the same way, with the same people, the results are very likely to be the same.
Thousands of abandoned houses and hundreds of torn apart commercial buildings, tens of millions of public money that has simply disappeared into thin air, organizations whose sole purpose is to extract money from one level of government or another, reverands who play no role in the failing neighborhoods all around them,a school district that for years was a trough for grifter "contractors" and an employment agency for unqualified family and friends, and crime, violence, and murders so extreme that anyone who can moves away and the population decreases every year.
Yes, these are the folks everyone should want to hear from.

  17. more made up bullshit

    ReplyDelete
  18. bunch of haters on this blog. i think kansas city needs this conversation and it's nice to see that some are willing to go out and have it face to face.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Number of haters here is diminishing 949. There was a time when an incendiary race post would spin up 80 entries.

Now, just a dribble by 20 and Tony's bitch, who should be here anytime.

    ReplyDelete
  20. 7:41 are you totally stupid? WTF would Tony bring to the table, tacos ? Dumbass.

    ReplyDelete
  21. The ever fair and balanced Gwen Grant? What a fucking waste ofc time.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Two words. Circle jerk.

    ReplyDelete
  23. you know, off and on I come to this blog to see whats going on and off and on I say fuck this half baked bullshit .. you are being led around by a guy that cant wait to see how you respond to the shit he throws in the middle of the room.. Gwen really? I dont even think she lives in KC proper does she? the KC star? its open on a shoe string and TK is always talking about how irrelevant these people are over there and the Call ... all of this sounds like liberals and blacks wanting to talk race relations .. why not invite cleaver and he can invite the black / brown coalition then get the mayor and you have tech9 .. this is utter bullshit and who will represent the whites there? circo? wagner? and maybe if you tickle his nuts and coax him over you may get carlos and valerie then bring the mid america minority group that JE Dunn started and Phillip Yelder!! yeah yeah bring him too

  24. The result of this will surely be: Niggers are not given enough money and more money must be given immediately or else riots will ensue. Thank you very much.

    ReplyDelete
  25. 100% American For What is Right2/25/14, 6:41 AM

You know wasn't all that long ago the word nigger was ever uttered from my mouth. Not anymore. I watched a movie last night full of black people who called each other nigger all the way through it. I hear songs through my walks of life by blacks where it is nigger this and nigger that. If you want to be offend by my using the word nigger you best stop wasting your time on me an instead attack the ones who claim it's racists while being the ones who use it the most. Niggers what it all, they just don't want to work for it so there in itself lies the issue. Till the rest of America stands up and says enough of this bullshit, slacking time is over, so get your ass to work you lazy niggers the attitude of niggers will remain the same and only get worse.

  26. An actual conversation involving some serioius, candid, and open-minded people who have some respect for the views, opinions, and life experiences of others might very well be helpful.
This farce has about the same value as three cuckoo clocks. You know the doors are going to open and you know exactly what sounds will be coming out of their mouths.
And everyone has heard the same tired self-indulgent crap for decades.

    ReplyDelete
  27. CK a city in demise. Much like the black communities all across America

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yes, to the conversation. No, to the participants. Same old crap from the same old people. Gwen Grant is the most self-serving, racist person I have ever known. And I do know her. This will go nowhere. Too bad, because we do need a plan to go forward.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'll say it again: South of river, inside the I435 loop, east of Troost, their town.
