  1. Without question this has been a really bad week for KCFD.

Maybe one of the worst in history.

    1. no it hasn't. nobody died.

Tony, you'd be more useful to the community if you were ground into dog food

  2. That was a battle between two of the most self entitled groups in history.

  3. Wow! A whopping $90,000 for an agency with an annual budget of $121 million. Must have been a really strong case. Where will they ever find that kind of money?

    ReplyDelete
  4. It should come out of their price chopper budget!

  5. Ouch. One of KC's "true heroes" got a little agitated there.

Have they started working on Bruno's bronze monument yet?

  6. Free money for being black.

  7. The house of fire is far from clean.

  8. Um, a finding for the KCFD on two of the counts. No punitive damages. Sounds like a win for them.

    ReplyDelete
  9. wrong. KCFD is paying big time on this one. gotta cut down from steaks to hamburgers!

    1. Steaks and hamburgers? Oh you think that comes out of the budget? No, it's comes out of the paychecks. Firefighters use their own money on meals.

  10. The next $$ discrimination verdict is coming from the Parks & Recreation Dept and . . .

  11. Can I deduct this from my E-tax bill??? I didn't discriminate against anyone so I'm not going to pay for it.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Those "additional fees" T is referring to are attorney's fees. Not too bad for a jury trial. A drop in the bucket for the city.

Go ahead, Tony. Ignore Sanders' performance record. Ignore the fact that his own co-workers said he wasn't a very good firefighter. Ignore the EEOC's findings. Just focus on the color of his skin.

    ReplyDelete
  13. So 8:09 your saying a jury ignored the facts as well?

There is no such thing as "drop in the bucket" I don't want my money being spent on mismanagement. Time to get it together and find new city legal.

  15. This was a firefighter that failed to do his job. He failed to learn his first in district and run calls the addresses properly. He was known as a troublemaker from the start. Looking for a payday. Well he got it. This is what happens when you fail to perform and call foul and blame it on the color of your skin instead of taking responsibility for you actions. Pretty of black firefighters on KCFD that perform and serve the public every single without issue.

The built in excuse for failure if you are black, is the color of your skin.

It is an actuarial variable, built into insurance costs that we all pay, based on the percentage of African American employment. The crucible shouldered by producers who pay for slugs, who have learned that the color of skin dictates pay offs by way of white guilt. liberal stupidity and jury nullification.

  17. Ok all you fucking experts as I asked about an hour ago, from what you are all saying this is a jury who ignored the facts and gave a worthless person a pay day right?

Or just who is ignoring the facts here?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Westport Trucky, yes they gave a worthless POS a pay day.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Steaks and hamburgers? Oh you think that comes out of the budget? No, it's comes out of the paychecks. Firefighters use their own money on meals.

    As they should.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Wrong. KCFD expense it all to City Hall. They burn through expenses like crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Support Fire. Forget the haters.

  22. This guy lost the main parts of his case in the trial. His flimsy case was worthless, as is he. This guy is a bigot and prejudice himself.
Trust me, he is guilty of the same things he blames "the man" on.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Well I myself would like to know just how many of you who commented here was even in the court room the whole time this trial took place to be able to render your legal opinions as to what happened?
If the jury was that brain dead then KCFD has a good case for appeal it would appear to me, but like you all I wasn't there so how the heck do I know.

  24. What the hell is going on with KCFD? So there's issues with the quality of care:
    http://fox4kc.com/2011/12/20/mother-claims-daughter-was-denied-ambulance-service/

There's issues with rampant failure to meet response times month after month.

There's cost overruns. There's staffing issues. There's overtime blowing up. There's lawsuits about the overtime and a failure to integrate the emts and medics from MAST. There's firemen beating cops. There's now racial lawsuits.

Why is it I don't hear this from departments in Overland Park, KCK, Lenexa, Leadwood, Gladstone, Grandview, Lees Summit, Raytown, Independence, North Kansas City, Liberty? Collectively, they have a population double that of Kansas City.

What happened to the culture of KCFD?

  25. Man oh man....

  26. Here bitches suck on this if KCFD had behaved themselves they wouldn't have had a case but no they had to be pricks like that fuck that got shot.
But jurors only found the city guilty on Sanders' claims of retaliation.

Jurors awarded Sanders $90,000 in damages on the retaliation claim. It’s a victory Sanders and his attorney hope will ring out in stations across the city.

"I hope this is a wake up call to the fire department so that more people can feel that they can come forward," Sanders’ attorney Lynne Bratcher said.

  28. What I wonder about is how this guy made it through the fire academy if he was such a loser?

90K payout is no huge settlement. After Lynne carves her chunk out the guy isn't going to be on easy street long.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The Court will award attorneys fees and costs to the Plaintiff, to be paid by the City, in addition to the verdict. The Attoeneys fees and costs should ba around. $200,000 tp $300,000 more.

  30. It seems the FD vs PD Battle Royale is alive and well on TKC. Allow the bear to offer his services to moderate a peace between you bad asses.

    A opening suggestion to both.

FD, let's try and get to and put out the fires a little quicker and more effectively. Oh yeah, and a lot less time running with the light and sirens on while headed to Price Chopper. And don't try and deny it.

PD, let's try and cut down a few of the murders, rapes, muggings, and most of all Polar Bear attacks being perped by the Plaza mob. You get paid to stop lawbreakers not protect the Marriott while off duty. If you got that much time and energy then you need to be spending more time at the range. That way when you shoot at something you don't hit 9 innocent bystanders, fire 93 rounds and totally miss your target.

As you can imagine, the bear has many ideas to help bring harmony to the FD vs PD rukus.

PS. I didn't bill the City $250,000 for these brilliant ideas.

  31. @the Polar Bear

I was't aware there was an issue with the FD putting out fires quickly and effectively. Can you provide some suggestions on how to do that?

  32. Super soakers?

  33. Thanks for pointing that out Lynne. Makes the cost of showing stupidity even more.
