  1. If the city is smart, they should settle this one quick. The union angle alone could break this town's bank.

    1. The family has no case. AT ALL. Zero. The only legitimate litigation that could be filed here, would be against the Fire Department, for not keeping one of their own under control ...

  2. it will get settled quick depending on what kind of drugs was the guy on?

  3. Don't settle at all. KCPD did the correct job!

  7. Jesus. Sue? WTF. I think this city has given enough to this famy over the years, including a city sponsored funeral. Do the crime, do the time. He fucked up and got killed. Why sue? To take more money from the citizens of KCMO? Grow up and have morals.

  8. It is well established that Bruno was intoxicated and violent.

It is well established that he disobeyed the lawful commands of a police officer, and resisted arrest.

It is well established that at the time the fatal shots were fired, Bruno was on top of the police officer striking him on his face and head.

It is well established that Jackson County is a plaintiff friendly venue.

But no matter how much the family and the firefighters are hurting, this is a case even Matlock would lose.

  10. What family would want to go through the experience of seeing their son's faults amplified in public?

  11. I would investigate the hiring process that brought him on the job. test scores? interview process everything. Then every applicant that was in that process can sue for unfair hiring practices.
Sounds like the cab driver was right she is a cunt.

  12. The city will settle for $25,000 just to put it behind them.

  13. apparently theres more tothis
    story involving the cab driver
    and the firefighter...
has anyone heard about the altercation between the taxi guy
    and Bruno.
might be more here than we know.
however...its tragic....and eventuallythe city will probably
settle with the family to keep from
    paying big lawyer fees.
something strange here...theres something no right in this deal.

  15. Nepotism, 7:06. And if anyone should be suing it's the off-duty cop.

    ReplyDelete
  16. The off-duty police officer should be the one suing. This is typical firefighter behavior. They are never responsible.

  17. If the Islamic terrorist who hates women hadn't been here driving a cab, then the drunk fire fighter has a nice ride home. Instead, the Islamic terrorist calls his wife a cunt, the fire fighter gets pissed and the shit hits the fan.

No doubt, this is a loser law suit because you NEVER resist arrest and strike a police officer. That said, this death is a DIRECT RESULT OF MULTICULTURALISM.

The New Amerika claims more victims.

    The wrong guy is dead.

  21. I say we the public should sue the Bruno family for the negative press this has caused the city to be exposed to. I know it has hurt the value of my home and people are not going out as much since they are afraid of fireman who great all drunk and what to try and beat you to death. So now that means less tax dollars collected, so now city will want more tax dollars from me to pay for things like fucking out of control drunk fireman.

    the Lawsuit

In a far away land, once upon a time, there was a Arab driving a taxi. He came upon a firefighter on the sidewalk needing a ride...

  26. Happens almost every time with a police involved shooting. People sue for everything. It's just part of the process.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Sue the dipshits that watched the whole thing and did nothing to help. The officer would still have multiple facial fractures but the fire fighter would still be alive and knowing Jackson County all of this would have been swept under the rug.

  29. Payoff to avoid legal fees? Wrong-o folks.

The City has in-house lawyers to fight this shit. Ever heard of the Legal Department (yes, they do more than write ordinances to get the clients of favored development attorneys their zoning variances and tax incentives).

No, the City's Legal Department will settle this case because the City's own attorneys are too lazy and incompetent. They couldn't lawyer their way out of a paper bag. And there are plenty of settlements- large and small- to prove it! Just ask the City how much they spend annually paying out property damage claims, work comp claims, etc. HINT: It's Power and Light money, if you know what I mean.

  30. 7:50- So if an Italian Catholic cab driver had called Bruno's wife a cunt, Bruno would have calmly reflected on the comment and graciously thanked the cabbie for the courage to share his opinion of his new bride?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Just another case of ambulance chasing. That family doesn't deserve a dime. Their husband/son brought death upon himself.

  32. If a boy, who slugged a man and started bashing his head into a sidewalk, deserves what he got, then so does Bruno.

  33. This will for sure raise hostile feelings between KCFD and KCPD, this lawsuit will go on for several months and work up both departments and the citizens as well. The family should be ashamed of the firefighters behavior to say the least.

The cab driver should file a lawsuit against the estate of the firefighter for physical damages as well as emotional distress and take back what ever our stupid city legal department settles with the family.

An end should come NOW - KCPD officers stop wearing city provided uniforms and carrying city provided guns while working part time jobs at hotels, department stores, theaters, Ect....if a business wants to hire a KCPD officer, provide the uniform and weapon. No other public or private employees are allowed to use their work uniforms for another employer and KCPD should not as well - we the citizens own that property and the cops should not be allowed to benefit from it's use for personal profit.

The Mayor should take a side of who was right and who was wrong and set an example of leadership. He should also question the police chief on the officers actions from the point where the firefighter gave up, laying on his back/side and was done resisting arrest and the officer flipped over the firefighters body and slammed his knee onto the neck and head of the suspect. The cop provoke the situation to become deadly. Keep in mind this is not your normal police officer that was getting his but beat, he is also a decorated US Marine and it makes one wonder if the cop is in the physical condition to be in the professions of the police and or military. Is he at war or serving the people and protecting the peace?

And last, if this was any other citizen or perhaps a black in the inner city who got shot and killed, this would never had been a story as we have seen such shootings and killings in recent times. The mayor should really pick up on police actions as his son has had a history with the police.

  34. 1:36...excellent points.
great to read something besides the vulgar hate and vile comments of the low lifes on tkc.
    Are you listening chuckles?

    ReplyDelete
  35. What excellent points? He's implying the officer was wrong, which is absolutely idiotic. The firefighter is solely responsible for what happened and paid the price for his poor judgement with his life. END OF STORY! If the family wants to sue, I say bring it on. They have no case and will only perpetuate the legacy of their son's shameful behavior.

  39. 3:16i think what he/she was say is the specific part of the video where the firefighter has stopped resisting and accepts his detainment until the police officer jumps over the firefighter body and slams his knee into and on the non resisting firefighters head and neck. I would suggest you watch the video several times. As for hype firefighters actions that started and escalated the crimes,, there is obviously no objection in what 1:36 states.

I wonder another thing to consider, was it necessary for the cop to plug two bullets into the firefighter, when one would have been enough?

This whole event has several parts that require close examination and you might challenge yourself to putting forth some effort before you write your opinions.

    ReplyDelete
  40. It doesn't help the issue of out of control police departments around the country when you have coked out drunks attacking cops over a cab fare in Kansas City.

    ReplyDelete
  41. 8:42-I have watched the video numerous times. The point you're missing is that the firefighter had not submitted or complied with the officer's commands, and the officer was attempting to gain physical control by moving to a better control position at the head. He obviously was not attempting to knee the drunk arrestee in the head. Again, the key point is that the firefighter made bad decision after bad decision and he alone is to blame for his death.

With regard to your point about shooting him once, that is contrary to the training that officers receive. Once deadly force is justified, as it was in this case, there is no shoot to wound option. Two to the chest, one to the head. The officer mercifully spared him the one to the head.

    ReplyDelete
  42. FF stopped resisting? He never never complied with the officer's orders to put his hands behind his back & be cuffed. Just because someone is not pulling away, does not mean they are not resisting. What isn't visible is the tightening of muscles etc. The cop didn't knee him in the head, he was trying to get in position to straddle the man but when he flipped around, his knee came down on the side of the head. This suit has no chance of being successful.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Let's not forget 1:36's other ideas. Yes he was wrong about stopping the resisting, unless the officer began giving orders to lay on his side and back and stiffen up so he can't get cuffs on. Maybe we just didn't hear those orders. Then there's the "tax paid weapon". Nope, officers but their own. Then if an officer loses a fight, he's not fit enough. Ever heard the saying there's always someone bigger? If the city only hired people who could beat every single other person in a fight, then they could really hire only one person. A one person police department is a great idea genius. Tax dollars do pay for uniforms though so you are 1 for 5. Great job, granted, the one you actually got right is really not a factor, but it's a start.

    ReplyDelete
  44. All I can say to all you fucked up people and your fucked up comments is your fucking dumber than you all sound. I just hope none of you people ever have something tragic happen to your son, brother, husband or friend that involves a deadly shooting from a cop that used poor judgment to begin with. He had no business chasing someone down without backup. They are paid to have better judgment, not put themselves and others in danger over him hitting a muslim cab driver that was trying to rip them off. The scary thing is, he is back on the job with his gun. I only hope this doesn't happen again with this cop. It should be protocol for an off duty cop to carry pepper spray or have a taser gun to avoid having to use such deadly force on an unarmed man. He chose to try to contain a drunk man, bigger than him by himself. Not very smart. I don't condone hitting or beating a cop, but Bruno did not have to die had he waited for back up. It was not a life threatening crime he had committed for the cop to need to chase him down. Very poor judgment by the cop.
