THE TRAIL WIL BE PRESERVED and the streetcar would run in the HUGE FUCKING SWATH of unused grass right next to it.

I have to agree with Tony's point. He says if city is talking about not taking the trail it could very well mean they are planning on doing just that.

Here are some actual facts:
ReplyDelete- There's plenty of room for both a streetcar line and a trail co-exist peacefully.
- KCATA owns the land anyway. They're always going to act in the best interests of the city's transit needs. This is a good example. The Plaza? UMKC? Brookside? Waldo? It's a no-brainer.
The city will move forward without you. You've not told us anything except your opinion, which is usually the same anti-city, anti-progress BS we're all used to.
There is always more and it is always worse.
But we already knew that.

And in a couple years, the fun and excitement of the streetcar and make-believe urban living in downtown will be gone, the apartment leases will be up, and the millenial entrpreneurs will have found some neat new fad to try to get the public to pay for.
Downtown is little more than a publicly-funded amusement park.
And the bonds will run at $10-15 million/year for decades.
All aboard.
Once the toy train flops, and it WILL flop, just remember how long the city had to nix the deal before going deeper and deeper into the abyss.
