Open Letter To KCMO Toy Train Supporters

Show-Me Blog pens this MUST READ missive:

An Open Letter To Streetcar Supporters

Bottom Line for Brookside and throughout Kansas City . . . The fact is, the scheme just doesn't work:

"Indeed, building commercial-grade rail lines through 100-plus-year-old neighborhoods is difficult to justify. Study after study indicates no support for the city’s “dominant goal” of economic development."

More in a bit . . .

  1. The only economic benefit that will happen will be (1) a benefit to those working on the design and construction; and (2) the benefit to those people receiving money from those who benefited from the design and construction (trickle down). IF this boondoggle is construction, it will drive up taxes past the saturation point, and it will cause folks to move out of Brookside because of the tax burden. Taxes have already been ratcheted up to the point of breaking the camel's back - and we as Kansas City citizens have little to show for it. PAY ATTENTION TO INFRASTRUCTURE. AUDIT THE WATER DEPARTMENT. EXPOSE GRIFTERS AND CORRUPTION. The only way the real business of the people will happen is a grassroots uprising against this tax money grab. Go to meetings. Tell Sly and his band of thieves that we are DONE being taxed to death, and we will not stand for this streetcar bullshit. This Show Me policy link is right-on.

  2. Yes, if you look at studies that only support your dirt bag conservative agenda.

Patsy, eat a bag of dicks, you stupid carpetbagging gavone.

  3. 2:57pm - you overlooked the short term job benefit for the construction workers from Raymore.

  4. All the economic development Russ & Sly have claimed so far have received substantial City subsidies.

  5. Hey Libtard at 2:59, you must be one of the design/construction streetcar grifters!

  6. We can look at Cincy's airport too, epic fail

  7. You know that 3:26. They will blow this blog up after "happy hour". They have investments to protect. It's not KC or the tax payer.

  8. how will the city support these projects when stop light cameras are ruled unlawful and the 'E" tax is voted down the next time.one big slum area

  9. 4:03 makes a very good point.
If the ACTUAL amount of money both spent and owed on the streetcar fiasco becomes public around the time the etax comes up for a renewal vote in spite of Sly's best efforts to bury the facts, all bets are off.
And all the money spent on the "campaign" to scare and lie to the public might not be enough to refill the trough and keep the gravy train rolling.
Then the vultures would really be coming home to roost, the millenials and hipsters would be fleeing to safer digs, and downtown would be even deader than it is now.
    All aboard.

  10. The Libtards don't give a shit about real estate taxes because they are a bunch of hipster renters who don't pay real estate taxes.

When you own real estate in this town, and you pay taxes on it, suddenly your libtard agenda becomes replaced with common sense. Call it conservative or what you will - homeowners are saying enough is enough with Sly James and his libtards looting taxpayers for selfish reasons.

  11. Libtard: (noun) a person who believes liberalism will advance society to utopia; one who doesn't examine the facts or use rational thought when arguing for liberal policies

  12. The "pretend creatives" who read a Richard Florida book and thought, "wow I'm a creative person everybody look at me I'm special" keep trying to cram every costly boondoggle imaginable down everyone's throats.

Not only screwing the taxpayers but setting them up to be the bag holders of the most unimaginable bag of shit ever to come home to roost once they get bored and head of to greener pastures.

  13. And in the meantime the real creatives who's work and effort they want to claim for themselves are having harder times than ever.

    ReplyDelete
  14. People won't move out of Brookside! There's more than a few Waldo folks who won't be able to cough up the additional property taxes though.

  15. Fuck the Toy Train, what about the god damn Polar Bear ?

    ReplyDelete
  16. The Polar Bear is coming to a neighbor hood near you.
