Michael Sam Cursed By Sports Illustrated?!?!

There is a force in nature not to be trifled with, there is a natural order that mercifully sustains life but also holds severe consequences for anyone who would dare stray from a virtuous path.

Of course I'm referring to sports media.

And, here's where Michael Sam is really tempting fate . . .

Sports Illustrated cover jinx

Like it or not, athletes who play politics in their prime have mostly horrible consequences for their careers. In reality, it's hard to deny that Michael Sam faces a serious backlash to this media blitz given that he has yet to secure a spot to even participate in the NFL. From the opposite end of the spectrum (no pun intended) . . . Go ask Tim Tebow how standing up for his beliefs has worked out . . . His career is pretty much kaput and he's gonna have to be content playing pitchman and doing speaking tours.

There is no doubt that Michael Sam is a brave soul but he might have overlooked that football is a big MONEY game that's mostly about winning and generating revenue, not just publicity.

He's finished. He could survive the gay deal but being on the cover of Sports Illustrated is a career killer. He can say goodbye to a career in the NFL. The curse works on all sports. Believe me, I know!

  7. All that matters is how well he does his job. What he does in his bedroom is his own business and none of ours. Get a life, 5:21, and stop obsessing over other people's private affairs.

  8. 3:45 You mean to tell me a black man was a shitty father? Shocking.

  9. I wonder if he is the "wide receiver" or the bull dyke when off the field.

    You contradict yourself!

"What he does in his bedroom is his own business and none of ours." EXACTLY!!

So, why is he making a public SPECTACLE out of himself by discussing his sex life? Is it because he wanted an excuse to fall back on when he doesn't get drafted, or isn't chosen in the first few rounds? If he'd keep his personal life private, most everyone wouldn't give a damn about it. If there's a backlash, it's only because people resent attention-seeking alternative lifestyle drama queens.

  13. Only in the self serving, left wing, amateur press does it immediately shift from how great a player someone is to how big of a butt fucker they are. Queers can either play football or they can't and it would behoove the gay loving press to remember that. The best blow job in the world is not going to get these guys a 2 million a year contract no matter how the sportscasters and gay ass bloggers love them.

  14. 7:45 Nice job!
Also , nobody that want's to keep a job in broadcasting dares say a bad word about this guy. But many believe it's a bad idea.

  15. Tebow was a no talent hack who only got onto an NFL team because of his selling the faith.

  16. 9:50 Tebow won more playoff games than the Chiefs. Idiot.

To an extent I agree with you, but consider if it weren't a big deal, the media would ignore it. In my opinion, what people do in their own bedrooms should not be an issue, but right now the American public seems to have a limitless prurient interest when it comes to gay sex. We saw this before when interracial celebrity couples like Sammy Davis, Jr. and May Britt were news. (Yes, I'm that old.) This, too shall pass. As for keeping his personal life a secret, except for acknowledging he's gay, he is keeping it private. We don't know whom he is involved with (if anyone) and we don't know what kinds of activities he favors in bed, thank heavens. We know as much about his sex life as we do about any heterosexual sports figures if we forget about Michael Jordan, Dennis Rodman, Tiger Woods, etc.
