Kansas City Notes A Bit More Progress On The New City Hall 'Soft Launch' Website

Tech progress isn't very fast paced in Kansas City and we're still waiting on the new City Hall website that was promised in January.

Watch the progress in action @ KCMO.gov

On the bright side . . . It looks like there has been more than a bit of recent progress as of late and even a welcome/warning message . . .

KCMO.gov Soft Launch

Welcome! We are in a soft-launch environment with our new website, www.kcmo.gov. Now that you’ve found us, take a look and let us know what you think at communications@kcmo.org. Our existing website, www.kcmo.org, is still up and fully functional. Please use www.kcmo.org if you have any issues here. Thanks! We’re working hard to create a new website that is faster with higher functionality.

Remember that the most AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS broke news of this one FIRST and anxiously wait to see the debut of local Internets win . . .

I had a soft launch last night, but then remembered my cialis and was able to give the missus a real spring-squeaker of a drilling.

  2. "Soft Launch" = "We've been fucking around and not doing our jobs while we were supposed to be working on this website, but our boss is now demanding we produce something so he doesn't look bad. So here ya go! Oh, by the way, now that we've made this 'soft launch' don't expect anything else out of us for another 6 months or so."

  3. "Soft Launch"= New built-in excuse for all the information gaps and functionality fails of the new website. So if it's not working right, report it to the 3-1-1 Action Center. We'll get right on it (cough, cough).

  4. "Soft Launch" = A new way for the electeds to hide behind mis-information and dis-information. After all, if the truth or evidence to the contrary isn't available, then the truth is what they say it is.

  7. CK officially and proudly launches a "newer and shiner" unfinished, incomplete, and buggy product!

  8. The accoutrements of cool must constantly change, lest there be nothing new to identify one's membership in the Early Adopter or Hipster tribes, a.k.a. bobos, bourgeois bohemians.

  9. Kansas City is definitely nigger central now. The first page outta the box, "Hey, it's Black History Month!". How fucking stupid! Niggers have done absolutely nothing to be worthy of an hour of recognition, much less a month (even if it IS the shortest month of the year..)

  10. If you just listened to Sly's announcements, followed the PR department's Twitter feed, went to TED Talks, visited the Kauffman Foundation's meetings, got all Googled about fiber, or surfed KCMO's new webpage, you'd think Sly and the gang were the most exciting thing to hit the area since Jesse James.
Then you go outside and try to go to work through the frozen water from a broken main and an unplowed street and you remember where you really are.
But maybe you really CAN fool all of the people all of the time.

  11. 826, I understand bigotry, although I am not bigoted. At least when it comes to skin color.

What I don't get is the fulfillment that is addressed by posting anonymous posts stating your bigotry.

Expecting a f-bomb in response so I will not be disappointed, but you may want to seek help.

  12. City Council should soft launch a new City Manager.

  13. 8:40 probably very similar to the fulfillment you gained by posting your response... just a voice in the wilderness wanting to be heard. He's no different from you in that respect, no matter how you'd like to believe it to be so.

  14. We would do a hard launch, but in keeping in step with the impotent city government it is what it is.
