Will The Kansas City Streetcar Toy Train Steal Snow Removal Funds In The Future?!? Yes!!!

More than a few Kansas City Insiders have lamented this KANSAS CITY'S LACKLUSTER AND DRAMATICALLY SCALED BACK SNOW REMOVAL amid this current arctic blast.

But it gets worse.

TKC EXCLUSIVE: INSIDERS OFFER JUST A BIT OF A PREVIEW INTO THE TOY TRAIN STREETCAR STEALING FUTURE SNOW REMOVAL FUNDS!!!

Take a look at GREEDY STREETCAR ADVOCATES already making a tragic comparison given messy local streets:

Now before it all melts, remember, by and large . . . Kansas City pays for snow removal out of contingency funds and so far the Council's love of "emergency" ordinances has been eating up the budget. One day soon (already happening really) we could see scaled back snow removal because City Hall simply can't afford it thanks to so many other commitments . . . Like Spanish Toy Train Junkets and otherwise.

  1. It is not a zero sum game. The train will bring in tourists!

  2. If you would get a real, meaningful job, you could go on business travel as well.

    Get over it.

  3. Time to fire Schulte, McIntyre, and Davis.

  4. 751, schulte got a raise and some accolades, remember? He's going nowhere. There's trains, trips, and taxes to play with.

  5. I'll let you in on a little secret, Troy has been robbing the resurfacing funds for years. I'm surprised the heavy contractors haven't figured this out and called for his termination. There is always hope.

  6. Okay, finally we hear from somebody else who knows @ 8:02!

Glad somebody spoke up about this!

  7. Business travel is great and if you have the kind of job where they only send you to Quik Trip, you're missing out.

Have a great trip, KCMO guys!

    You lose.

  10. Personally, I'd rather the City spend the money on transit future instead of transit past. Get over your cars people. They are done.

  12. It's beyound comical to read the comments about all the density and success of downtown and especially the idea that vehicles are things of the past. EVERY new development or rennovation proposed for downtown has included either building a parking garage or offering parking in an existing facility.
Some of these downtown boosters must really be chugging the urban futurist Koolaid!

  13. The 4,000 dollars a gallon to fight a war we cant win is over. There has to be a better way to exploit resourses.

  14. A simple comparison between two line items becomes a MAJOR SCOOP.

  15. It really is a nice dream; a train that takes you everywhere *you* want to go, and FUCK EVERYONE ELSE!

I lol'd when I saw this tweet, and had to respond. If I was a streetcar supporter, I would be HORRIFIED to learn that operating 2.2 miles of track for a year is the equivalent of keeping the entire city running four months out of the year.

I don't think Dave Johnson can really relate to people who have families and need vehicles to get places.

Do you really think that people will come to Kansas City just to see your street car?

Someone needs to tell the tourists that it isn't SAFE to visit Kansas City.

  17. Can't ride to ride the toy train when the streets are too ice covered and snow packed to get to the train stop.

  18. By the time even the Main Street starter line is underway, the folks at city hall will be grabbing money from every account they can think of. They've already stolen $2 million from the bus system and nothing at all has even happened yet.
And remember, the first decision the folks who Sly appointed as his "Streetcar Commission" was that it would be FREE. Just about all forms of transportation are publicly subsidized to some degree, but there aren't any that have NO OFFSETTING REVENUE right from the start by design.
ALL the money to build, operate, and maintain this fiasco has to come from somewhere else.
    Amateur time on the plains!
