TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY 5TH DISTRICT CAMPAIGN AGAINST THERESA GARZA RUIZ TAGS HER AS 'CARPETBAGGER' CANDIDATE!!!

Campaign season in Kansas City Council Districts is already underway and more than anything we're noticing a bit of antipathy toward a powerful local lady looking to cross the street to a more high profile gig.

To wit . . .

5TH DISTRICT DENIZENS HAVE STARTED CALLING JACKSON COUNTY LEGISLATOR THERESA GARZA RUIZ A "CARPETBAGGER" CANDIDATE BECAUSE OF RESIDENCY ISSUES!!!

First, an explanation of the reference for all of those who aren't history buffs:

"In United States history, carpetbagger was a pejorative term Southerners gave to Northerners (also referred to as Yankees) who moved to the South during the Reconstruction era, between 1865 and 1877."

This cruel nickname might be related to a bit KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTER reporting that revealed Theresa Garza Ruiz and Mayor Pro Tem Cindy Circo were living with one another in order to prepare for a campaign.

One Kansas City Political Insider says this:

"This is yet another example of why at-large districts don't work. Theresa is obviously trying to get a competitive advantage by moving into the district at the last moment and without any real connection to the area because she knows that Kansas City doesn't support African-American candidates in the 5th District at-large."

Moreover . . .

"If she would try to run inside the District she would lose without much of a contest. Only by running at-large does she become the front runner and that's because of an institutional legacy that promotes candidates with name recognition and political donor connections. It's unfair and not in the interest of 5th District voters."

So . . . Now that the name calling has already started . . . We're waiting for an actual candidate to step up as neighborhood groups and PAC look for someone to challenge Jackson County Legislator Garza Ruiz for a job that she NEARLY owns before a single ballot has been cast.

Developing . . .

  4. I would never call Theresa any name. Except for wonderful woman.

At least on our first date.

  5. If you have to be dishonest to get elected then you will surely be dishonest while in office. Just sayin'. People are going to get what they vote in and I hope they start paying attention.

  6. Carpetbagger, huh?

Got any names of people willing to stand by this name-calling?

You know. Actual people. Not made-up nonsense, like this stirring-the-crap nonsense appears to be.

    (you don't - and I know it)

Because unless you get actual people calling public figures names, well....it's just more useless unfounded nonsense.

Another example of how there is always more and it is always worse.

    1) The residency requirement for at-large or in district is the exact same.

    2) At one time, the 5th district was represented by Jeannie Robinson and ken bacchus.

    3) Based on 1) and 2), quit your fucking crying.

  12. Forgot to mention, Jeannie Robinson and Ken Bacchus are both black while Theresa is Latino.

In addition, blacks are always wanting to be treated equal without regard to skin color. Kinda hypocritical to talk about skin color about this??????

    ReplyDelete
  13. She is probably the first Latina in history to be called a carpetbagger.

  14. She could beat Michael Brooks in an in district race. Sorry Clinton Adams black women would vote for her.

  15. I hope someone runs as well. Maybe a true resident will win.

  16. Don't think she can elected without the 5th and the northland. The northland doesn't know who she is. Her record in Jackson County won't help either.

  17. When you go down the thread and see the names involved: Clinton Adams, Theresa Garza, Michael Brooks, you know all you need to know to understand why KCMO is such a pathetic excuse for a city government.
None of these people have any interest in anyone other than themselves and "candidates" like Garza just go from one taxpayer-funded spot to the next, never accomplsihing anything at all for the public.
CK is heading south in a big hurry.
    All aboard!

  18. The Northland knows who she is and knows her type is what's wrong witqh KC. Grrrrl Power be damned.

  19. In retrospect Theresa made a critical mistake weighing in on primary endorsements in 2012. It will comeback to haunt her.
