This morning there's word of frustration over equal access to a historic Kansas City park.
To wit . . .
EAST SIDE ORGANIZERS ARE LAUNCHING A SWOPE PARK PROTEST AND CITING A LACK OF ACTIVITIES AND INVOLVEMENT FOR THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN COMMUNITY IN THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE PARK!!!
Via social media, one organizer notes:
"Besides fishing, a picnic and maybe the zoo . . . WHAT ELSE BLACK IS THERE TO DO?"
Again complaints include park administration, zoo free day timing and programs for the urban core with community input and access.
Clearly, nearby residents seem to feel that offerings at Starlight don't speak to their community and recent encroachment into youth sporting activities don't take their interests into account.
The protest is slated for 69TH & Elmwood around 9:30 in the AM.

ReplyDeleteI used to play golf at Swope Park but even if we had Tee Times, we would have to wait until there were no Black Guys in the clubhouse before we could get on. This happened two or three times and the guys I was with were pretty pissed. Not me. There are plenty of golf courses in KC and JOCO. I told my friends that blacks did not want us there, so no big deal, we quit going there.

Two people were arrested.
Just a few hours earlier a few hundred miles away in Pittsburgh, a mob of black people “savagely beat” a white teenager, then stole his shoes. All on video. All the while screaming “World Star. World Star, ” apparently a reference to popular hip hop website that often features videos of black-mob violence.
District Judge Jim Motznik promised the local CBS affiliate that this kind of violence was over in his town. He “guaranteed it.” Which is of course the same promise other Pittsburgh authorities made when a mob of black people attacked a Pittsburgh teacher last year. That happened two times, actually, with both incidents caught on video. As well as other episodes of black mob violence involving football players at Pitt. And a good old fashioned race riot at a Pittsburgh high school. On video.
A few days before and 2,500 miles away, a black mob attacked a white woman in a busy plaza in downtown Seattle. As a dozens of people looked on, doing nothing, at least three black women repeatedly punched and kicked an unidentified woman in the face. Knocking her down, sending her to the hospital streaming blood from her forehead. While their compatriot caught the action on tape.
“It’s unbelievably violent and shocking. We need to find the attackers, they need to be arrested,” said a police spokeswoman to KIRO TV news.
A curiously similar incident was also captured on video last year in Seattle. A mob of black people beat a hapless bus rider waiting for her ride, this time in front of curiously detached security guards.
Make no mistake, all the black on white crime is being ignored so we eventually rebell. Hence the need for martial law.

ReplyDeleteMy daughter is a successful model. #2 son works for a law firm as an abstracter. #1 son works in a local factory.
Speaking out against family dysfunction breaks the cycle. One of the reasons that Mark's children are successful is that Gloria rejected our nuclear family. Her children weren't inundated with stories of alien abductions & physic phenomenon. In other words, not knowing my parents very well helped these children.
Would this be the same Gloria whose husband has not had contact with you for 35 years? And would not knowing you as well have helped these children?

Byron, I have a couple of questions, if you will answer them.
ReplyDeleteI work with disabled people. A few examples: three who are completely blind, two who use guide dogs and take public transportation to get to their full-time, good-paying jobs. Another example: two with cerebral palsy, fully disabled by body but with incredibly smart minds and lots to contribute. Both work. Both earned college degrees, one a masters degree, both fully disabled.
Another blind person who works from home providing services for other blind persons. They also use public transportation.
Another wheel chair user, 100% confined, who worked for many years for a major corporation and does lots of volunteer work.
We're not talking handicapped. We're talking disabled.
Byron, these people have disabilities that severely limit their physical access. They don't let their disabilities stop them or limit them or define them. They don't let the government take care of them or rely on handouts. They make their own way. They contribute. They are strong.
I have not heard anything from you except you have limited vision, as do I. I hold down a full-time, well-paying job. I do not take government handouts. My life takes planning, and strength and pride. It's also doable.
I respect your right to post on this blog, Byron. I don't agree with much of what you say, but you have a right to express it.
I also have a high IQ. I have tested several times in the top one percent of the population. You state your IQ is in the top two percent. I state IQ tests are one indicator of potential intelligence. They don't indicate how smart you are.
Here are the questions: how do you justify/rationalize that people, including myself, who have disabilities (mine much, much less severe than those with whom I work), and work, produce and earn to care for ourselves exist, and then you, who are low vision but not completely blind seem content, in fact entitled, to let the government take care of you?
Do you honestly think you can label the people I mentioned as handicapped and yourself as disabled? That's not how the government makes such a distinction.
I have not called you a name. I have not insulted you. I have asked you fair questions based on simple and true examples. I wonder if you'll answer them.

There were other factors that are none of your business. I will say that one of them was asthma.
My father was able to get me hired at the plant where he worked, but the plant doctor wouldn't approve me, because he was also the one treating my asthma.
This is the last time I will ever discuss this, because I'm getting tired of this. I don't have to defend myself, explain myself or justify my actions to anyone.
