Just a quick observation amid all of this cold weather coverage . . .
First, an acknowledgement . . . OF COURSE TKC wants you to protect your pets during this hard freeze.
In fact, we salute groups doing important work like animal rescue amid these bitterly cold temperatures. Check Chain of Hope for more info . . .
However . . .
IT'S CLEAR THAT KANSAS CITY LOVES PETS MORE THAN PO'FOLK AND HOBOS AMID THIS TRAGIC COLD SPELL!!!
We've noticed a bunch of doggie stories and panicked social media blasts about animals in the cold . . . But nothing much about cold PEOPLE. Kinda sad considering there are folks slugging it out at local homeless shelters that are overcrowded and even the working poor struggle to pay heating bills, battle against landlords who won't turn up the heat and suffer in much worse shape than local animals.
Anyhoo . . . Just a trend we hope is corrected as cold weather coverage eventually turns to the human impact of these frigid temperatures and maybe cold-hearted animal lovers warm up to the blight of their fellow humankind.
News flash! Kansas City brown people bitch about everyone else but don't do shit to help their own! Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

ReplyDeleteIf you invite a nigger into your house to get out of the cold, they will either steal from you or even kill you for something you have. Best to leave them in the cold to freeze.
ReplyDeleteHumans domesticated animals and thus have taken on responsibility for their welfare. Animals did not chose to become dependent on humans.
ReplyDeleteHumans who are homeless have their own minds and have made their own choices. Help can be offered and is offered but people make choices about that help: passively accepting it, actively accepting it and improving their lot, not accepting the help or abusing the help (mooching, stealing etc).
So it is an apples to oranges comparison. One more thing: you can do both--care about homo sapiens and felis sylvestris and canis familiaris. The missions are not mutually exclusive.

Soon the hobos can jump on the streetcar and ride around all day in warmth. heck, they can even check their email while riding around. The streetcars will be the new mobile homeless shelters.
