Stunning development today . . . An airport insider CONFIRMS exactly what Kansas City critics of the new single-terminal plan have been saying all along.

Check it:

KSHB: A representative of all four major airlines that operate out of KCI advised city officials that simply building a new terminal wouldn’t result in more passengers or flights.

Newspaper: Southwest representatives urge caution on costly new KC terminal

KC Biz Journal: Southwest execs: New terminal won't add flights at KCI

In the so-called adult discussion of the proposed new airport . . . This is a BIG deal and comes straight from insiders who have played this game before . . .

Is that polar bear dead yet?

We need a new airport so the Southwest pilots don't mistakenly land in St Joe.

What? Listen to the people who actually use the airport? Why would KCMO big wigs want to do that. It's not about the airport it's about lining the pockets of their buddies for studies, consulting and construction. The rich get richer on the backs of the taxpayers. This has nothing to do with "need."

I’ll submit that it will actually decrease business. The people from waaaay outside the city/state who drive to MCI to save a few bucks on a cheaper flight then what was at a closer airport will find those savings negated by higher airline fees and parking fees. Parking already seems to be going up $.50 every couple of months for no reason already.

They've already solved the problem by closing one terminal. Maybe they need to be closing 1.5 terminals. Or two.

All that unused space with great parking nearby can be turned into art galleries, restaurants, bars, casinos, and clean, well-lighted places for the orgasmic-services sector.

They'll fire some TSA agents and do the sound-byte for how much money they saved by spending $1.5B.

Anyone stupid enough to buy the line of bullshit that a new airport will "increase traffic" at the airport is nuts. Business drives traffic and just because you build a airport, well remember Executive Hills? 30 years it sat empty. I thought we had a airport. Toy Train, airport, what the hell, just blow money to prove city government is stupid.

If you build it, they will come.
