MEL D AND THE TKC TOP 5 KANSAS CITY NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS FOR 2014!!!

Melissa Debling and her busty, blonde hotness inspires us to think about the future for just a moment . . .

Here's what we've come up with . . .

CHECK THE TKC TOP 5 KANSAS CITY RESOLUTIONS FOR 2014!!!

Quick and dirty and resolved . . .

CAN WE GET THE KANSAS CITY MURDER COUNT UNDER 100?!?

This should be the first and only goal of every man and woman holding political office in Kansas City. Like it or not, the progress of this town hinges on reducing the KCMO homicide count number . . . Without a significant reduction in violence and murder there cannot be any sustainable advancement for this town.

LET'S STOP TRYING TO SAVE THE KCPS AND COME UP WITH BETTER ALTERNATIVES!!!

Kansas City Public Schools are kaput. There's just no getting around this fact of life. Parents can either wait to have the state and other special interests play games with the education of their children OR hopefully get ahead of the game and search for digital tutoring and other online tech alternatives to find another viable educational path.

CONDOS AREN'T GOING TO SAVE KANSAS CITY AND DOWNTOWN ISN'T REALLY A NEIGHBORHOOD

Real estate speculation threatens to ruin this town as markets pick up . . . Yes, white people want to come back to the urban core and that's fine . . . But in the end, Kansas City gentrification schemes also fall prey to big money scam artists who don't care about organic growth of neighborhoods and instead want to make a quick buck at any and all costs.

MAYOR SLY ISN'T TOO LIKEABLE FOR TOUGH QUESTIONS!!!

Granted . . . It's impossible not to like Mayor Sly James . . . But witty retorts or pleasantries about "adult discussions" don't really answer important questions. Yes, there is unlikely any serious opposition to Mayor Sly but that still doesn't give him a pass on every controversial local topic.

TIME TO HOLD KANSAS CITY ACCOUNTABLE FOR OLD AND BUSTED ECO-DEVO PROJECTS!!!

Fact: Union Station is heavily subsidized, tax break corporate office space and doesn't resemble anything promised in the bi-state tax that paid for the place. Like it or not, Kansas City is littered with white elephants that continue to drain this town financially.

The cost of the P&L District keeps spiking and the only solution proposed by this Mayor and Council is a double down luxury apartment space scheme.

If fixing a "structurally unbalanced" budget is even a slight concern Kansas City needs to get realistic about the money flying out the window for old and busted projects that haven't come close to living up to expectations.

Now . . .

FEEL FREE TO SUGGEST YOUR OWN KANSAS CITY RESOLUTIONS!!!

TKC hateration is always welcomed and habitually ignored but I'm thinking that complaints from jealous old white dudes and other garden variety Internets dweebs probably aren't as important as another American city headed down the same track as Detroit.

Developing . . .

  5. ALL of the very good suggestions are based on the idea that there'll be the leadership necessary to change the status quo and actually hold some people accountable for results.
And the cowardly elected folks aren't going to rock any boats in an election year (or any other for that matter).
2014 will seem like "Groundhog Day" in KCMO: subsidizing anyone with a pulse who promises to build something; giving money away without any accountability or results; and pandering to every little interest group and promising them "they'll get their fair share".
The residents are on their own.

  7. elBryan, Tony has a "kick-assed tipster" named Sandy Mayer who feeds him all kinds of personal dirt from around the Courthouse, but she also is a psycho-bitch proponent of vouchers for Catholic Schools.

Any school-voucher program would have to include any church, not just the Catholic Church. So if that "alternative" was selected. our tax dollars would go to support Bishop Finn and/or Bishop Clevis' Cathedral of Miracles and Auto-Loan Financing.

  21. I think the best solution for the kids of the KC school district would be to eliminate the district. Divide the area up between neighboring districts. Central, Blue Springs, Raytown, Grandview, Independence gets the extra students, the buildings (white elephants) and the tax revenue.

  22. 109 AND 140.

151 makes your point better than either of you.

  23. 1. Downtown is not only a neighborhodo, its one of KC's most densely populated, is the fastest growing, and is the most successful.

    2. Everything you said about Union Station would be said about the Sprint Center, College BLVD, Corporate Woods or a host of other subsidized suburban white elephants...

    ReplyDelete
  24. You guys don't know much about Detroit or Kansas City if you think there are any similarities between the 2.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The only dissimilarity is that the core population of KC isn't fleeing as fast as it did in Detroit. Other than that, both cities suffer from the same sort of grifter scams designed to fool mildly intelligent councilmen and mayors into believing that the next great eco-dev is on the horizon and will save the city.

  25. 2:32, your second point has no merit. You can't compare Corp. Woods, College Blvd. and other JoCo projects with Union a station, for they were built with a bi-state tax that was sold to the citizens based on lies.

Also, Sprint Center is not subsidized. In fact, it makes a hefty profit.

"Structurally unbalanced" is one of those Schulte words that is supposed to confuse and impress, rather than to communicate the reality of the budget.

The CM has been building in metaphorical trap doors into the budget, which give the appearance of responsible staff work, but he purposely under-funds operations by using an efficiency mandate, which takes away the funds that are identified in operations.

That is the reason for hiring freezes when positions are approved in the budget but then not filled.

To the issue of 2014, this blog would be a better place without the useless crap. I really don't know why people get off that on that stuff....

If you are a racist, have the brass clankers to join the Nazi party and share your insights in an open, courageous way.

  27. The core population of Detroit worked 30+ years for auto industry's, took the great pension and moved north! Or south as snowbirds. I have many friends in thier early 50's that did this.
