KANSAS CITY STATUS QUO: AT-LARGE COUNCIL DISTRICTS STAY WINNING!!!

Kansas City's segregation-era system of local goverment stays intact for now . . .

KC Council rejects controversial charter reforms

TKC EXCLUSIVE REAX: MEMBERS OF THE BLACK/BROWN COALITION HAVE ALREADY THREATENED A CIVIL RIGHTS LAWSUIT AGAINST CITY HALL ON THIS ISSUE!!!

However, right now let's not forget that this makes the Charter Review Commission that recommended this nothing more than a waste of time . . .

What's more important is that Mayor Sly and Council seem to have a penchant for rigging local Democracy and keeping voters and issues off the ballot from the streetcar to the new airport petition and now even offering voters a choice to transition out an outdated system.

More on that later . . .

  1. They might be in over their head on this one. These council members will fight tooth and nail on this.

  2. I don't see anything in The Star's story (which talks to actual people willing to put their names behind statements) about a lawsuit.

So, even more made up nonsense?

  9. The eastside needs to start voting NO on the city's ballot issues. Those fools always go and vote for the city's taxes. They are only getting used by the elite of the city.

  14. The endless carnival at 12th and Oak is making the region a laughing stock and holding back progress in the entire metro.
Aren't there ANY adults in a town with a population of almost half a million people who might want to run for city council and actually try to focus on providing some decent services for the residents who actually live here?

  15. The Black Brown Polka Dot Coalition doesn't have a leg to stand on. The 12 vs 6 council districts race argument has already been vetted by lawyers (real lawyers, not Clinton Adams) and there is no civil rights violations in the current system.
If anything is racist it's the Black Brown Coalition.
