Members of the Missouri General Assembly,
We want to let you know about the Department’s efforts to transform unaccredited school districts in Missouri. We have collected a number of plans from education organizations as well as commissioned a study on how we can create the conditions for improvement in student achievement in unaccredited districts.
To that end, we are holding four public hearings for feedback on these plans. With this feedback, we will create a statewide plan for support of and, if necessary, intervention in unaccredited schools. We hope to bring our recommendations to the State Board of Education by February 2014.
The public hearings are as follows:
