Craig Glazer Explains Chirs Franjola Faux Pas On Kansas City Fox4

Chris Franjola will make his third trip to Stanford and Sons this weekend. Chris has been banking the big bucks on his own show, ‘After Lately’ which follows on ‘Chelsea Lately’ He is also on Chelsea Lately and hosts the post-show discussion for the FOX hit, ‘Sons of Anarchy’. Though he looks like a modern day version of Bobby Kennedy and even goes into his adult version of Justin Bieber on TV, his quick wit is more reminiscent of a younger Lewis Black.

Stanford’s faux pas’ are legendary at FOX 4. It goes all the way back to the mid-nineties when Jimmy ‘JJ’ Walker had a run-in with FOX security which got discussed on-air. The heated debate ended up on the front page of the Kansas City Star and later on ‘Hard Copy’, the national sensational news show. That little episode had Stanford’s suspended from FOX 4 for one year. A few years later when delivering a requested DVD from the Police Academy movies with comedian Michael Winslow, they refused to open the doors for us as they didn’t have a written order from the producers which caused an argument that had us suspended for another year. The irony of this, had this been a more open-minded media market, these things would have been considered great and entertaining television like the reality shows we see today. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case in the nineties.

Stanford’s got back into the good graces of FOX 4 a few years ago when Tommy Chong was the Grand Marshall of our St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Chong was also playing Stanford’s that weekend, so he promoted both on air and it went just fine. Though Stanford’s has been a regular guest on KCTV 5 and TV 41, we are just back with FOX 4.

That leads us to today’s Chris Franjola interview, which you can still see on FOX 4’s website. After a very funny interview, the anchor thanked Chris for the interview and encouraged the audience to see him at the show this weekend. Franjola replied, ‘I just love Stanford’s, Kansas City and doing NBC News.’ The interviewer told him, ‘You are at FOX 4, not NBC.’ With a big smile on his face, Chris responded with ‘Oh Shit, I’m sorry.’ My heart sunk and I thought, ‘Here we go again’ as it went out over the live feed.

Luckily, everyone on the set was laughing, even the producers. I apologized for the s-bomb being dropped, they assured me they were not upset and thought it was very funny, and in fact, even replayed it later in the show.
