COLD KANSAS CITY NEIGHBORHOOD CLEANUP: HOBOS UNWANTED IN WALDO!!!
This sounds like a public service, and it probably is to some extent, but it's also a sign of intolerance in our least favorite working-class enclave.
KCTV5: "After six months, Kansas City police have successfully cleared a park in Waldo, removing a homeless camp, while, at the same time, getting the homeless who lived there in contact with social agencies who can help."
Now, far be it from TKC to attack the character of Waldo denizens . . . So let's just take a look at their record:
- Waldo went (deservedly) cray-cray over a rapist a few years ago and their response was to teach old ladies karate and hassle every black dude that drove through the neighborhood until a suspect was arrested and charged on an unrelated crime.
- Waldo bar specificity reveals some pretty deep-seated class warfare and a local neighborhood divided across lines of upward mobility and income.
- Waldo's Walmart Reaction was somewhat reasoned but mostly emotional and fear-based . . . More than any other location in Kansas City - Waldo is scared of what the future might hold.
To wit . . .
THE FIGHT AGAINST HOBOS IN WALDO NOT ONLY COMES OFF HYPOCRITICAL BUT ALSO REVEALS A KANSAS CITY NEIGHBORHOOD IN TRANSITION FROM SUBURBAN TO URBAN CORE!!!
To put it simply, Waldo isn't what it used to be . . .
