I was born and raised in Detroit. I lived there until 1999. I was a dyed in the wool liberal. I watched as the city I loved, and a city my ancestors established, fall into ruin. For the longest time, I was firmly of the belief it was the fault of Whites. No longer. The fault is theirs and theirs alone. They are not compatible with Western Civilization, period. Their genetic background is not capable of fitting into civilized society. There will be no closing the gap. Pre-school education is futile. The only solution is to change their DNA, but, that would only change them into Whites brain wise, so what, exactly, would be the point? Back in the mid 1960's my liberal parents believed the Multi-cultists lie that Diversity was a Joy and Multiculturalism was a strength. So when blacks started moving in, we stayed long after most of our white neighbors moved out. It was a huge mistake. Our Detroit neighborhood went from a beautiful, well kept, clean and safe place to raise a family, to a crime ridden hell hole within a few years years. Finally moved, and took the huge property value loss, after several break-in attempts, two stolen cars, vandalism (rock through our front window, slashed tires), racist physical assaults, anti-white racist name calling, and the nude mutilated body of a young blond white woman was dragged and thrown up against our house like a piece of discarded trash by a black male (later arrested and convicted). After the police and coroner removed her body, I was left to hose off the trail of her blood and fecal matter off our sidewalk and front lawn...my now no-longer-Liberal parents were finally convinced it was time to get out. And I will wear the physical scars to my grave.
Now live, and raised a family on acreage in an all white rural neighborhood in the country, were after over 30 years we had only one "crime" on our road...a neighbor was fined for burning leaves without a permit.
A bit of advise from someone who knows through in-your-face blood-on-the-ground experience. If you are young, work as hard as you can; sacrifice, and scrimp and save every penny. Not so that one day you can afford the luxuries you've always wanted, but so you can afford to move as far away as possible from these black social experiments and their Liberal Democrat enablers! They are destroyers of life, liberty, safety, happiness and Western Civilization

Anyone who thinks the mayor, council or police board are trying to find a solution isn't paying attention or has bought into all the superficial PR crap. You can't think that you can delegate away your responsibilities to some out-of-town program or a bunch of nonprofits and then announce that "at least you're trying to do something about crime".

There HASN'T been any real attempt at community policing or even much of a start at building relationships, trust, and cooperation between residents and the police.
And that takes the efforts and involvement of EVERYBODY: elected and appointed officials; faith community; actual and self-appointed community leaders; members of the KCPD; and government, foundations, and corporations who fund programs demanding results for their money.
When critical isues like making the entire city safer for everyone gets anywhere near the command attention and focus projects like the streetcar and new buildings receive, the chances for public safety progress will increase.

ReplyDeletebut there's another important statistic that's not often mentioned: how many of the over 100 murders year after year are actually solved and don't end up in the cold case file?
That's yet another part of the "don't snitch" lack of cooperation that allows thugs to kill not jist once, but over and over again.
And also keep in mind that the great majority of homicides are happening on the east side and that the number of murders stays constant, even as the population gets smaller and smaller.
There's no real serious effort to address this and all the superficial window dressing glamour projects in the world aren't going to attract metro residents and visitors to an environment that they correctly perceive as unsafe.
Like buying new wallpapaer and furniture for a house with a crumbling foundation.

When we learn to affix responsibility to the root cause, which are human issues and not manufacturing, perhaps we will be able to actually identify a starting point. But they're both black, so competency isn't a consideration. It sends a clear message to everyone on the PD just how important reducing homicides is. ReplyDeleteThat is clearly a problem of a culture of ignorance with its utter breakdown of family and values. More cops won't solve the problem. The black generations here are ruined until they grow out of the problem.
Poor white generations aren't far behind. Their cultures are also at risk.
Increasing the minimum wage and transportation would be helpful. Better schools, better curricula to meet the specialized needs of the black culture would be helpful.
That's about all government can do. The rest has to come from leadership within the community and a serious change of heart to get black men to want to live with the mothers of their children.
Unemployment is a serious problem. And lack of skills. I think the ones who want to work, do. The ones who don't want to live in the crime areas of poverty have moved already.
They're feral cats. Declawing them (by taking their guns) isn't going to help.
Quit blaming the government. They are here to provide services... not makeover the society.

Questions like this, do we not have the largest police force in the USA except for Washington DC per resident? Why do we have the highest percentage of uniformed officers in the nation behind desks and not on the street? Why do we waste money on all these police cars that get more miles for personal use than police use? Why do we write so many speeding tickets, but do not arrest drug dealers, murders and home burglars? What exactly are you doing KCPD? What are your priorities and how are you using your resources to achieve these goals?

I'm glad to know race, class and gun ownership has been the equalizer for 150 years. We have created a ghetto where we drop drugs and handguns on the youth with a promise of cash to perpetuate themselves out of this situation. To give some perspective: Right now, NYC has three times as many homicides for 2013 as KCMO does for 2013--and NYC is sixteen times bigger in population than KCMO. ReplyDeleteThis city has poured more dollars per capita into the crime-ridden areas of town through programs like Aim 4 Peace, subsidies to Ad Hoc and tax dollars through COMAT, etc. But dollars are diverted to black leaders and preachers and organizers and the crumbs that are left aren't enough to do anything.
ReplyDeleteThe inner city hasn't had real leadership for years. Cleaver defaults on a huge SBA loan, gets sued and has a judgment of nearly $2 million against him, yet he gets re-elected.
The parents of the kids have abdicated their responsibilities. So programs at community centers are set up at to make up for parents who don't parent their kids. Ain't gonna work.
The problems are imbedded in the people and their so-called culture, and government can't fix that.
And Byron, it's "wrought" not "rot." Rot is what people who think as you do are causing in this country, which is still great; so great, in fact, immigrants flock here.

while a knife or bat is dangerous, you have to be really good at throwing to injure someone with one of them from a distance. with a gun it's much easier. there are throwing weapons but they take a lot more skill to get good at.
