I already shop at black-owned business that provide quality products, good service, and fair prices. These are the same reasons I shop at Asian-owned businesses, Hispanic-owned businesses, Middle-Eastern-owned businesses, and white-owned businesses. If you want to support jobs in your community then support the local businesses that meet these criteria. The ancestry of the business owner shouldn't be a factor.

They out and out admit that they are in it to further "their" people meaning Blacks even though they should represent all constituents. Not a bad idea, and there's no problem with black people wanting to support black businesses (any more than gay people wanting to support gay businesses, etc.), but I'd say there might be a timing issue--after all, it's two days before Christmas, and no one seems to have heard about this until now.

ReplyDeleteWhen you hear it said "out on the streets, that every man is for for himself" and that "every prisoner should do his own time", it means that you are a slave and should just look out for "no 1." But you cannot survive looking out for just yourself, on the streets or in prison, and those in power know it. You will suffer and die without unity and community. The reason that we are not working and fighting to improve the material conditions in our own communities, esp. Black and poor communities, is because they tell us we are worthless and that we cannot trust each other. In that way, they can divide and conquer us.

ReplyDeletePeople go to Walmart because they have the best prices for acceptable products. They run smaller retailers out of business.... and they lean on manufacturers, saying "we'll pay "THIS MUCH" and that's all. If you can't sell at that price, we'll take all our business to a competitor who WILL!
Hence product makers will sell to Walmart just to keep their plants open....with virtually no markup.
I used to work for a Chinese company that was told exactly that. Fact is, Walmart could PRICE PRODUCTS IN THEIR STORES for less money than smaller companies could even buy wholesale from us.
WALMART doens't buy by the truckload. They have their own people in China, and they buy the stuff there by the SHIPLOAD! Or many dozen containers. Use their own trucks to haul the stuff to automated warehouses for distribution. They have it down to the penny.
Ma and Pa stores or black businesses just can't compete. And they don't pay their people much, so that most everyone who's underpaid has to shop there. They can't afford to shop anyplace else!
They'll fire people at the drop of a hat because a line has formed by people needing that minimum wage... they're hungry. And small town businesses have dried up.
Better make sure your kids have high tech jobs and dont' have to borrow too much college money.. cuz they'll never be able to pay it back.
