Kansas Vs. Colorado Weed "Border War" Cropping Up In 2014
Has anyone asked asked Brownback or Kobach about how they will control the border with Colorado after January 1 when recreational marijuana sales are legal?
Colorado is gearing up for tourism increases next year. Regardless of western Kansas pattern of electing over the top tea party leaders like Tim Huelskamp, I'm sure there has to be a few liberal or libertarian tokers out there that will consider making a run for the border to get legal weed.
If the legislature is paranoid enough to propose drug testing welfare recipients, then they should have a plan to actively stem transport of pot into Kansas when the new legalized source opens up right next door. Any pot checkpoints in the future? Kobach seems to think dirty cloths constitute reasonable suspicion, so maybe he can come up with a racial profile to "weed" out the mules.
Back in the day, traditional media outlets would have thought to ask about this. I guess they don't have time now with all the Chiefs and Powerball stories that demand coverage.
