TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! FRIENDS OF KCI CLAIM VICTORY AND EXCEED THEIR PETITION GOAL TO PUT THE NEW SINGLE-TERMINAL AIRPORT HOT MESS TO A VOTE!!!

This morning we lead the day with a message of hope for Kansas City Democracy and voters demanding accountability of their elected officials.

To wit . . .

THE FRIENDS OF KCI CLAIM AN EPIC VICTORY AND SAY THEY'VE EXCEEDED THEIR SIGNATURE COLLECTING GOAL FOR A PETITION DRIVE FOCUSED ON THE POSSIBILITY OF A NEW AIRPORT!!!

This is the second try for the group that has done their fair share of groundwork among locals . . .

Remember that TKC WAS THE FIRST to bring news of Santa's Christmas time delivery of citizen initiative petition that put this process into motion.

And now . . .

THE FRIENDS OF KCI CLAIM A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE VICTORY IN THEIR PETITION DRIVE TO PUT THIS NEW AIRPORT HOT MESS TO A VOTE!!!

Opponents of this effort claim we should have unquestioning faith in politicos to bring a public vote in this process . . . However, the Friends of KCI are doing their VERY BEST to keep the process transparent and push forward TOUGH LEGISLATIVE measures in order to hold politicos accountable instead of just believing random promises.

Check their statement . . .

FRIENDS OF KCI PETITION EXCEEDS ITS GOAL

Dear Citizens who want Responsible Government,

This morning at 11:15 am, Citizens For Responsible Government / FRIENDS OF KCI will deliver 1588 signed petitions to the City Clerk in an attempt to get the proposed $1.5 Billion Airport Terminal project on the ballot so the citizens of Kansas City have the opportunity to vote on the issue. We should not have to go to these lengths to get the citizenry involved in a project this large but several of our city leaders would like to ram this project through without the voting public having a say. This is the crux of our campaign. We believe the voters should have a say, for or against a new airport. As many of you know, last week we turned in several thousand signed petitions but once they were checked, we came up 574 short as some signatures were invalid.

The overwhelming response to our call for additional signatures by the voters of Kansas City has allowed us to collect over 1500 new signatures in less than one week, to replace the ones that were invalid. Phones, emails, face books were all jammed with citizens wanting blank petitions so they could collect signatures or wanting to know where they could sign. The response was phenomenal and should send a message to local politicians that the people want a say in City Hall! It’s our money and we want a say in how you spend it.

Citizens For Responsible Government is a bi-partisan, issue based, group of volunteers dedicated to holding our elected officials, City, County, State and National, accountable for their actions.

Remember TKC, this is just what they say, they still have to get the signatures verified by the city clerk. But they should have more than enough if the numbers they claim are registered voters.

He's pretty wordy this morning... repetitive. Big letters. Guess he makes his money writing by the INCH. A lot of scrolling for not much news.

I'm glad they're winning. Time to stop this horrid City Council and Mayor in their tracks. The shit has gotten ridiculous.
