ONCE AGAIN THE MOST KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS TELL US THAT SOUTHWEST IS FACING SHUTDOWN IN THE AFTERMATH OF STUDENT POP. CHANGE UPS THAT WORKED OUT HORRIBLY!!!
Before we get started . . . Here's the word . . .
"I hear rumblings that Southwest High School is going to be closed again. This is coming from staff (who haven't been formerly told) and in-the-know neighbors."
Thanks to this AWESOME TIPSTERS for the IMPORTANT PUBLIC INFORMATION along with some really nice words about TKC being the only Internets purveyor of content that's not outright propaganda. It's really our AWESOME TKC BLOG COMMUNITY that helps to keep Kansas City in the know about so many local, dirty dealings . . .
Anyhoo . . .
Let's not forget that the problems facing Southwest Early College Campus are the direct result of THE CURRENT KCPS LEADERSHIP and their meddling . . . Remember:
- Southwest was the location for a really nasty rape charge this year . . .
- Overall the school is now seen as a blighting influence on the neighborhood in which it resides . . .
- And generally, it's not so much the students/scholars who seem to be dragging the place down . . . But a very real administrative malaise looms over the school.
Count this as another Kansas City Education FAIL on deck as we prepare for Missouri State Education Officials to step in and break up the district any day and maybe in the coming new year.

ReplyDeleteSo we took a bunch of poor black kids who have nothing and put them in a school surrounded by a bunch of rich white people who have everything. Excellent idea.
ReplyDeleteAll we need is some more community involvement with a few dozen town hall meetings led by more contractors, facilitators, and consultants who can dialogue, facilitate, and identify stakeholders so that, instead of helping their own kids understand and appreicate the importance of education, we can have the parents decide how the schools should be run.

ReplyDeleteBut seriously, what will this achieve? This shoves the problem around, but resolves nothing. The state can't step in soon enough.
Property values in the neighborhood will go up, and that's good. But the kids will still sell drugs, commit arson and rape and assault, and have sex on the cars of the neighbors wherever they end up.
I guess, however, that the owners of those cars will be 1000% more likely to ventilate the perps than the Brookside/Waldans are.
You're right 7:13 it's the white folks fault, after all their the ones who have had to give a couple billion of their tax dollars to fill these schools with the best equipment and resources available. It is their fault. Oh, and that sea of tranquility called Brookside they are surrounded by during the day must be very disruptive. After all, not hearing gun shots and sirens all day while they are in school must hinder the learning experience. I've heard the Blue Valley schools pipe in gun shots, yelling, and industrial noises through speakers in the school because it is so conducive to learning and that's why their grades are so good.

ReplyDeleteThis just breaks my heart. I am old enough to remember when Southwest was the gem of KC and the gem of the Midwest. I attended SM East, and we sure did not have the reputation of Southwest High School in Kansas City. It was the best. We were the best too, I guess, but not as good as they were.

The parents are the problem. What are the parents teaching the kids? Violent folks do not assimilate they dominate. The other school districts that absorb the problem kids/problem parents better get ready!The problem parents/problem kids don't have to cooperate or follow the rules. The bad thing is there are not that many problem kids but they can't be dealt with due to political correctness. Most of the kids that go to southwest are good kids!One bad family in any neighborhood or school can literally ruin the entire neighborhood or school. Racism is universal. Anyone can be a racist. Conservatives or liberals can be racist. White ,black,brown,yellow can be racist. Wakeup!I just thank god my mother taught me to love and defend myself.
