Credit to activist Alonzo Washington taking on two powerful institutions in Kansas City as of late and amid a rising homicide count . . .
First up . . . Mr. Washington offers a harsh indictment of the Ad Hoc Group Against Crime . . .
Sadly, according to Mr. Washington . . . New leadership against crime isn't working.
Similarly . . . Mr. Washington calls out leadership from the African-American clergy as a potential root cause behind a recent arson case.
Like it or not, Kansas City politics comes into play when we discuss African-American clergy and leadership.
Again . . . Calling out major institutions like Ad Hoc & the African-American clergy makes a bold statement and offers an alternative view of Kansas City revealing that not every denizen of the urban core is so supportive of the current leadership class.
Agree with a lot of what Alonzo Washington says but sometimes tense discussion between groups isn't viewed as discourse but instead taken as infighting. The assumption isn't fair but it remains nevertheless.

ReplyDeleteIt's not just ad Hoc. It's the endless list of nonprofits who are funded by COMBAT, Aim4Peace, NoVa and all its hangers on, and all the rest of the "activists" and groups who benefit financially from trying to be parts of the latest "anti-crime" programs.

And as long as there's no real interest on the part of the mayor and council or any accountability for results, both the spending and the murders will continue.

ReplyDeleteGive him credit, he called out some of the "ministers" in the hood. Those self-proclaimed "ministers" deserve it. I don't know anything about those burned churches. I figured they pissed off some drug dealers around there and it was payback. But there are too many "ministers" in the hood that are part of the problem as well.
