KANSAS CITY FAKES FIRE DEPARTMENT DEFINED BENEFIT REFORM!!!

Check out Kansas City Dead Tree Media touting a compromise that's really more of a continuation of the status quo . . .

Newspaper: KC firefighters ratify pension agreement, allowing pension reform to advance

Fake detail: "After more than 30 months of debate, Kansas City is finally poised to proceed with pension reform. The Kansas City firefighters union this week ratified proposed reforms . . . Supporters say the changes will create sustainable pension funds that should carry the city into the future."

Now . . . Most folks even vaguely familiar with Kansas City finances understand Fire Department pensions are breaking Kansas City given the overall decline in local fires thanks to tech advances . . . (Aside/Refresher: And this explains the MAST Takeover that accounts for NONE of the KCFD collective bargaining strength) Like it or not, real reform would move away from a defined benefit plan (pension) to a defined contribution plan (401K like everybody else) and anything less is simply presser copy from the political establishment.

REAL TALK . . . THE ONLY FEASIBLE WAY TO CHAMPION REAL FIRE DEPARTMENT PENSION REFORM IS THROUGH A PUBLIC VOTE GIVEN THAT KANSAS CITY POLITICOS WILL NEVER STAND UP TO LOCAL 42!!!

Background . . . Mayor Sly and KCFD faked job cut that never happened during their last set of negotiations and now the FD is now MILLIONS over-budget according to KC Insiders . . . Still, pressers delivered by way of Dead Tree Media provide reassurance to a city quickly heading toward bankruptcy thanks to a cash burn rate that simply can't be extinguished.

  1. Now I know you are dumb tony, but seriously please don't make us respect you even less for your complete lack of anything useful on this subject. You aren't even capable of arguing the finer points of funding of pension plans, effectiveness of 401(k) plans, what a pension plan is (it's both a defined benefit plan AND a 401(k) Plan you idiot).

Please stop trying, it simply exposes you for the stupid, uneducated mamma's boy living in the basement that you really are.

  2. Since you like talking about the "cash burn rate" how bout you show us the actual numbers - you know, something like showing the actual detail behind your nonsensical quips instead of just spouting off the same tired rants that you copy from someone else.

  5. So how much are KC Firefighter pensions costing exactly? Care to share any real facts here?

  6. 3:51
Spelling and thinking just isn't your thing is it?

  7. You know what TKC? I'd rather have my earnings tax support firefighters than keep on being wasted on development projects like the streetcar.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Can't we just give them discount cards to Price Chopper? Then everybody is happy.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Yeah tony, get back to your "Exclusive" "Breaking" "Exclusive" streetcar is terrible, kc is awful, I hate my neighborhood EXCLUSIVE coffee shop, oh wait - pretty girls I gotta post that on my blog kind of posts.

Exclusive - right after I copy it from this newspaper and act like I know what I'm talking about story.

  10. I bet this story came from one of tony's AWESOME tipsters.... like the Kansas City Star for instance.

Why should we pay for the retirement of an organization that attacks police officers?

    ReplyDelete
  12. When is Sly gong to start making the long overdue personal cuts at KCFD?

    ReplyDelete
  13. I think it's personnel 4:25, but why the f#ck would you care when you're all about "gong's". Wow.

  14. All over America, premature administration of exorbitant pensions are killing the middle class. The number of Federal, State and Local government employees is astonishing.

    http://www.americanthinker.com/2013/11/our_obese_government.html

We all want firefighters to make a compensitory wage with respect to the dangers they face and the great jobs that they do. But when any questions of efficacy, numbers of fire fighters and the decreasing number of fires is brought up, the defensive and acrimonious retorts are over the top in my opinion.

Tony is right. The firefighters union is one of the MAJOR movers and shakers in the city.

    Tony speaks truth to power.

  16. Sly won't risk offending the firefighters, he is to desperate for the votes.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Maybe we should make 15.00 an hour to start like the fast food slingers!

    ReplyDelete
  18. 401(k) plans depend on investment savvy. Not many people have that, not even among the wealthier investing class. Working people? They're being forced to base their future on nothing but a craps shoot. Most of them, like most investors in general, won't end up making out like bandits.

A defined-benefit pension plan is the gold standard. If your city can't run one and keep it solvent, that's their fault.

    ReplyDelete
  19. And finally... 5:47 gets it. Just don't expect tony or most of the others frequenting this dive either.

The sad truth is, tony is on to something here, but isn't smart enough to know what to write...

  20. One defined benefit is the fireman get to sleep while we pay them 50 dollars an hour. Yeah most of them take a 300 dollar nap every shift before they spend the night in bed.

Where can you find a job that actually pays you to sleep? And then cry for a fat FAT pension plan.

Like the past Honorable Mayor Wheeler said..Most KCFD firemen have narcolepsy.

    1. $50 an hour! Man I must be behind a few steps. Youre a tard

  21. Agree that 5:47 has good info. Now when are the firefighters going to start making those cuts they promised?

    ReplyDelete
  22. They should replace EMS and KCFD pensions with merrit points to earn blue cross blue shield gift cards

    ReplyDelete
  23. What has compounded the problem is the Mayor and Council willful under-funding of their portion of the benefit plan.

I am all for ratcheting back on public pensions, but for the Mayor and Council to throw up their hands and expect the employees to correct this screw-up is simply not fair. The Council should develop a funding plan where their
prior years shortfalls are corrected over a period of years.

Almost every public pension plan is going through this, and the reasonable solution is a shared sacrifice approach. But for that to start, the budget needs to correct this problem this year. Schulte, the budget wonk (smile), will not be putting forward with a plan that fully funds the pension plan for one year.

That would take balls, and he has 6 assistant cm's working night and day to find where his are hiding.

    ReplyDelete
  24. They are not hiding. I saw those balls in the Mayor's in basket.

  25. The real shame is Troy is paying 10+ assistant city managers about 160,000 per. Some like Pat Klein do nothing for the betterment of the city and troll here on TKC all day. There is a little Twitter and Facebook time as well.

    1. I have personally seen high up city officials reading TKC on the clock, in meetings, on their ipads. The rest of us schmucks would get disciplined for reading the site on city owned computers, let alone during work hours.

  26. So I learned something from this post. Firefighters are bullies and even Sly is afraid to stand up to them.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I can't believe you retards. These people run into burning buildings for God's sake! They save lives on a regular basis while risking their own. They were the men and women running up the stairs of the World Trade Center while everyone else was running down.

Next time your house or car is on fire or your kid falls through the ice or a terrorist blows up your office building get your garden hose, grab the later you use to clean your gutters, pull your own damn kid out of the pond, stay in the burning crumbling building and die. Swear to god I'm not a firefighter, I don't even know any personally but God bless them for what they do. I say give them what they want.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Please just let tonys mom house burn down. Put them out of our misery...

    ReplyDelete
  29. urrmm .. just try getting hired as a firefighter.. lots o' luck.. unless daddy or Uncle Phil can "get you on".

You "work" 3 shifts per week.. basically sitting around watching porn, or sleeping.

So, any firefighters who don't like it - feel free to leave - there's hundreds of people in line to take your place in this scam.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hey Jagoff 7:22 PM be a truthful lil smokey for once and fess up with what a fire captian makes per hour...c'mon...the truth won't hurt your cop beatin nass.

    ReplyDelete
  31. 9:46 PM...you finally made the fireman fatal mistake of believing your own bull shit.

Go peddle your dog shit "the jobs so dangerous" PR dogma to some that don't know the truth...you double lifin part timin scam artist.

    ReplyDelete
  32. 9:01 if you're going to bag on city management, and I'm not referring to the mayor and council, get your damn facts straight.
There are not 10+ assistant city managers
The 6 or 7 that are there make no where near $160k.
Three run different city departments/divisions in addition to serving as assistant city managers
Pat Klein is the hardest working person at city hall.

You sound bitter 9:01. Get over it.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hey bureaucrat 11:27 PM....you lie ...you are trained to lie.

Now be a good little government insect and eat shit and tax more people.
