Kansas City 2013 Murder #106 In A Vacant

KSHB reports not a lot of progress this year amid this town's most troubling stat: Authorities are searching for answers after a man was found murdered inside a vacant Kansas City home.

Unofficially, that's 106 murders this year compared with 105 last year at this date.

Dear Mr. Tony: Thanks for posting!! Yes, not a lot of progress on the homicide front in KCMO. Interestingly, since Chicago gets a lot of attention as the "Murder capital of America," KCMO has a somewhat higher per capita murder rate for 2013 than Chicago does: We are at 22 homicides per 100,000 people, Chicago is at 16 homicides per 100,000 people. In 2012 we had the fourth highest per capita homicide rate--meaning we are in a league with cities like Detroit, East Saint Louis and Camden. Now, unlike these other cities our violence in more localized in a few areas of the city: But that fact gives you a sense of the nightmare that people in those sections of KCMO are living. Take care!! In Christ,Ernest Evans
