TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! WANNA KNOW WHY KANSAS CITY MAYOR SLY IS SMILING ABOUT QUESTION 1?!?!

Mayor Sly James is the most charismatic and beloved elected official in Kansas City modern history.

He's also exceptionally smart.

Right now we're working on a lot of background stuff but this tidbit seems apropos for a Friday morning.

It's a great detail that everybody is going to deny but most realize that it's a fact . . .

Again, the question is: Do you want to know why Mayor Sly is smiling about Jackson County Question 1?!?!

Answer:

QUESTION 1 MAKES KANSAS CITY MAYOR SLY JAMES SMILE BECAUSE THE CIVIC COUNCIL AND LOCAL ELITE CAME TO HIM FIRST TO PASS THE TAX AND HE SENT THEM ACROSS THE STREET!!!

This fact is CONFIRMED BY VERY SINGLE CONSULTANT AND ACTIVIST WORKING FOR AND AGAINST QUESTION 1 . . . And while none of them will admit it on the record, they can't stop giggling when somebody mentions it.

Credit where it's due . . . We complain that Mayor Sly spends tax money like a drunken sailor but clearly his Marine Corps. training has taught him how to dodge a bullet and/or step around a landmine.

The polling on this one is shady and the numbers I've heard are closer than I'd like against the tax (-6 points) but what's really important here is that for all of his faults Kansas City Mayor Sly didn't want anything to do with this tax and his good judgement might soon be confirmed.

Developing . . .

  1. Right now Sly > Mike.

  2. The real reason is because he wants to ask for a sales tax for some other worthless project. Don't believe he has the city's best interests at heart. Him and the mayor pro-tem Cindy suckup are not listening or trying to do the right things for the city they just want to leave a legacy of big projects we cannot afford and should not be involved in.

  3. The City had just renewed the health levy and Sly had just ramrodded through the toy tain tax, had started and was having trouble getting traction on a new airport, and knew there was a new taxpayer supported downtown hotel and the Heavies' road tax coming.

The Civvies had not done ANY legwork or groundwork, and arrogantly thought they could push this onto the electorate with a fancy campaign, a thought no doubt encouraged by Glorioso et. al. (CHA-CHING- they get paid NO MATTER WHAT!!!).

How "smart" did James have to be to read those tea leaves before sending the Civvies across the street?

  4. Get real people, the state sets the maximum allowed sales tax for Kansas City, and I know this is hard to believe, but under Troy Schulte and Sly, they have maxed out the sales tax the city can ask for. The city cannot ask you for another sales tax without the permission of the state and that will never happen. Thus we have TDD, CID's and all the other ways to raise taxes. Sly wants a huge property tax next year while at the same time he is going to lay off all middle management in the city.

Not as smart as you think!!

    NO CREDIT DUE!!!

  5. Why not use our tax dollars for basic services and infrastructure improvements like fixing our shitty roads and water lines.

  6. Beloved? HAHAHAHA!

  7. This thing needs to fail. Just another in a long line of private projects that the city wants to fund with public dollars where private interests reap all the profits and rewards.

    It's amazing.

  8. What is going to happen when people get assaulted on the street cars like they do on the bus routes?

  9. My guess is Sly will join CK's Giant Vampire Squid, Polsinelli Shughart when it's over.

  10. Sly's tax is the new property tax or the sky is going to fall campaign. Just wait, police and fire will have to be laid off along with basic services if you do not pass the tax this spring. And the dummies in KCMO will pass it and then they will still lay people off!!

  11. I am a strong liberal but never in my life have I seen so much tax and spend on bullshit than my time in Killer City. The corporations get all the benefit, and the people get all the debt.

    The fix is fuckin in.

  12. He is smiling because after Theresa Garza Ruiz voted to put this tax on the ballot, he is no longer threatened with seeing her fat and full-unattractive body around City Hall as a member of Council.

The heavies tax, if its a sales tax, follows a disturbing trend where the federal government cuts infrastructure spending and makes the poor pay for it instead. They continually cut funding for things like medical research and infrastructure, while leaving corporate subsidies in place.

This promotes inequality and allows the politicians to best serve their masters in the c suite.

  14. The government has no business funding a private enterprise. If Big Pharm and hospitals have no skin in the game, why should we
