Mayor Sly Gets New Public Education Tutor

Newspaper and maybe some lady who will keep the Mayor from wanting to play Superintendent again: "Kansas City Mayor Sly James has appointed Kauffman Foundation manager Julie Holland as his new education advisor. James said the move signals the importance education plays in his administration and in the city's future."

  1. I think it's refreshing that the Mayor would publicly admit that he requires some remedial education, and that he was willing to reach out for this help.

  2. ZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! Sly is toast. Why do we keep talking about him. He went the way of the Toronto Mayor long ago.

  3. This chicks a fellow lawyer (hmm) and Sly's revolving door policy with Kauffman speaks for itself.

  4. For six years, Julie was a grant manager at the Kauffman Foundation where she worked on efforts to improve math and science education for students in the KC Metro as well as efforts to improve academic achievement for students in high-poverty schools.

    Worked well didn't it?

  5. Kauffman is one of CK's Giant Squids with it's tentacles quivering overhead inspecting anything that smells like taxpayer loot.

  6. Sly likes throwing away taxpayer money at things that don't work that's obvious.

  7. What the fuck? The school system has nothing, repeat nothing to do with city government.

  8. I'm glad that he's paying attention to education, and I'm glad Tony reminded us that his original plan was to "play superintendent,"

I'm not familiar with Julie Holland's approach to education, but hopefully she can convince him that the streetcar does literally nothing but fight for public dollars that could go to schools, or crime and infrastructure surrounding the schools.
