TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! UPDATE!!! DERRON BLACK FACES BOND REVOCATION THIS MORNING!!!
Here's a note to all TKC readers and media friends . . .
THIS MORNING OUTSPOKEN KANSAS CITY RESIDENT DERRON BLACK MIGHT GO BACK TO JAIL FOR DOING NOTHING MORE THAN OPERATING A VIDEO CAMERA NEAR MAYOR SLY JAMES!!!
The terms of Derron Black's release from jail after he jumped on the stage and interrupted the Mayor's PR State of the City speech included staying away from the Mayor at any other public functions.
This was never made clear to Derron Black.
Last night, he said:
"Nobody ever explained the specifics of my bond. And let's be clear, I was at a public meeting, far away from the stage and the Mayor and simply recording a public address on a very controversial topic," Derron Black said.
What inspired Derron Black to attend the meeting?
Read The Kansas City Call and take a look @ SOME EXCELLENT REPORTING BY ERIC WESSON detailing how City Hall and local construction projects have failed to live up to Section 3, MBE/WBE requirements which mandate minority participation.
"Eric Wesson's articles made it clear that there is a criminal and illegal effort to neglect the federal requirements to include minorities in construction projects from Beacon Hill to Swope Park. This is nothing less than an atrocity and I sought nothing more than to gather more information on this topic," Derron Black said.
That's right . . .
DERRON BLACK COULD GO TO JAIL FOR DOING NOTHING MORE THAN RECORDING VIDEO NEAR MAYOR SLY JAMES!!!
Moreover . . .
THIS MORNING 9:00 am DIVISION 1 IN MUNICIPAL COURT . . . TKC WANTS TO LET MAINSTREAM MEDIA AND SO MANY OTHERS KNOW THAT THIS KIND OF DRACONIAN CRACKDOWN ON CIVIC ADVOCACY SHOULDN'T TAKE PLACE WITHOUT PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE!!!
One more thing . . .
DERRON BLACK IS NOW RUNNING FOR 3RD DISTRICT AT-LARGE CITY COUNCIL!!!
Derron Black said: "Well, I could be going to jail for a couple of months BUT I would like to focus on the 3rd District from a citywide perspective and the 3rd At-Large spot is the best way to accomplish that goal . . . It's clear something has to change and I think focusing the debate on Section 3 disparity and so many other problems facing the District is the best way to start."
Again . . .
TKC desperately doesn't want Kansas City to turn into some place where a guy can go to jail for operating a video camera in a public meeting . . . For those who can do something . . . Please stand up and show support for Derron Black and his straightforward advocacy that this cowtown desperately needs.
